The slice of pie I got was refrigerated and in a to go box. I didn’t ask for it to go. There was no ice cream. The amount of whip cream was minimal and the apple pie was quite flavorless. I wouldn’t go again. It was quite expensive for not the best experience. It’s a cute restaurant but if your name is Pies and Thighs I expect a good slice of warm pie with alot of whip cream or a side of ice cream.
The food that we ordered was mouthwatering and made us feel as though we were in Atlanta instead of Williamsburg. The catfish was flavorful and reminiscent of southern Friday-night fish fry, but boneless. The shoestring fries and cornbread were nice additions, but the black-eyed peas, while ultimately flavorful with a reminiscent tang of Louisiana Tabasco peppers in vinegar, were served cold more like a wet bean salad that a traditional southern side of peas. Absolutely recommend the Palmer! The only negative was that we entered there were no tables and we asked if we could be seated outside. Were were told that even though it was cold out that it was fine and that they would be out to take our order, but after 15 minutes of waiting no one ever came out and when a table opened up it was given to a couple that came in after us. While we were able to get the next table that opened up, we were ultimately not happy with that aspect of our experience at the restaurant and prevents me from leaving 5 stars, though I would be interested in returning the next time I am in the area to see if we have a better experience the next time.
