I went for a breast ultrasound. I was very pleased with my doctor. he is a doctor who truly loves his job and genuinely cares about his patients. he is extraordinary in both his medical knowledge and his humanity. he is extremely attentive, his explanations are clear and patient. I am grateful for both his professionalism and his warm attitude. I am very happy that our paths crossed.
I recently had an ovarian scan as I was concerned about possible cysts, and unfortunately the experience was quite disappointing.
I was asked to change in front of the nurse, and only after I had removed my trousers and underwear was I given a piece of paper for modesty, which felt uncomfortable and poorly handled.
The appointment itself felt very rushed. The external (non-internal) scan lasted no more than a couple of minutes, which didn’t feel thorough or reassuring given the reason for my visit.
During the internal scan, there was no clear warning or explanation before the probe was inserted, which made the experience feel abrupt and uncomfortable.
Overall, the environment didn’t feel welcoming or supportive, especially given how intimate this type of procedure is. I’ve had similar scans through the NHS that felt much more professional, considerate, and reassuring.
I hope this feedback helps improve patient care and communication in the future.

Dear Abigail D.,
Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We are genuinely sorry to hear that your experience did not meet your expectations. We take comments like yours very seriously, as patient comfort, dignity, and clear communication are extremely important to us.
We would like to address the concerns you raised:
Firstly, regarding privacy and the presence of staff in the room — a trained chaperone (nurse) is always present during intimate examinations such as transvaginal ultrasound. Their role is to support you, ensure your safety, and assist throughout the procedure. At no point is their presence intended to compromise your privacy, and we always aim to maintain dignity during changing and scanning. We are sorry if this was not communicated clearly or felt uncomfortable in your case.
Secondly, in terms of the scan itself — for gynaecological assessment, particularly when investigating ovarian concerns or cysts, the transvaginal (internal) ultrasound is the primary and most accurate part of the examination. The external (transabdominal) scan is typically brief and mainly used to assess bladder status (e.g. whether it is full or empty) and to provide an initial overview. Therefore, a shorter external scan is standard practice and does not reflect a lack of thoroughness.
That said, we are very sorry to hear that the internal scan felt abrupt. Patients should always receive a clear explanation before the probe is inserted, and the examination should proceed at a pace that feels comfortable and respectful. This is something we take seriously, and we will reinforce this with our team to ensure better communication at every step.
We are also sorry that the overall environment did not feel as welcoming and supportive as it should have been. We strive to provide a professional, reassuring, and patient-centred experience at all times, and it is clear we did not achieve that on this occasion.
Kind regards,
Phoenix Ultrasound

We visited the clinic on Sunday and had such a wonderful experience. A special thank you to Ali for being so patient with us and for explaining everything so clearly during the scan. He took the time to show us each part of the baby and helped us understand exactly what we were seeing, which made the moment even more reassuring.
We also want to thank them for the beautiful present of recording our baby’s heartbeat for us so we could hear it every time.
We will definitely see each other again.
Worst pregnancy scan I have ever experienced
The early pregnancy scan I attended felt incredibly cold and lacking in compassion, despite the emotional significance for me after multiple miscarriages. After doing a scan on my stomach when I had already told the sonographer I was 6 weeks gave me a distressing result of seeing an empty sack. I have been for many scans with other clinics including IVF and they would never do a scan on the stomach that early. I was then rudely told to empty my bladder, the sonographer didn't even tell me where the toilet was. I was visibly crying then had to walk past many other people waiting which felt awful. When going back in for a transvaginal scan I was crying a lot and the lady asked me abruptly what was wrong with me, a comment then implying that “a lot of people have miscarriages” came across as dismissive of my history and anxiety. This was especially difficult given that previous early scans at other clinics — even when delivering bad news — were handled with far greater empathy. I have been through many losses and I am truly shocked that a women could treat me the way she did. I was and am terrified of loosing another baby and I left not knowing if the baby is okay. Then the lady insisting I have a picture at the end was just all too much. It was the worst scan I have ever attended and also the most expensive at £165. I really wish I had never gone here as it has truly made me feel so unwell and stressed. If anybody else has had a miscarriage before I would avoid this place as I wouldn't want any other woman to ever feel this way.
I would also like to add to this review that I was hesitant to write a review after my scan as I saw that any responses from Phoenix to bad reviews puts the blame and onus onto the patient which again highlights how bad this company is. I have gone through every bad review and each one they disregard everything and have an answer.
I have never written a review before but I want to warn other women this is not the place to go if you have had losses and to be told that my anxiety and emotion caused me to forget events is purely untrue. Do better Phoenix, and stop taking people's money when they are vulnerable!
Also please check the QCQ rating for this company too as it "requires improvement"

Horrible experience with unprofessional treatment
I went to PHOENIX Ultrasound for follicle monitoring, and it was by far the most unprofessional and terrifying experience I’ve ever had. The person performing my ultrasound was very old, spoke very little English, and seemed to lack even basic medical knowledge. When I asked about the size of my follicles, he said it was hard to tell. I honestly had no idea why I had entrusted them with my care.
On top of that, their management was chaotic and completely unprofessional. After the ultrasound, they sent me a report that wasn’t even mine and told me it was ready. When I raised the issue, the front desk admitted they had sent the wrong report. It was clear that they just modify a template and send it to patients.
Avoid this place at all costs. I hope the relevant authorities can investigate their qualifications to prevent others from being misled.

Thank you for your kind words and for taking the time to leave us a review. We are pleased to hear that you had a positive experience, and we remain committed to providing the highest standard of care to all our patients.
Feel very grateful to have had access to this central London service. It was very easy to book and pay for my appointment, which I did very last minute, and managed to have a Sunday which was helpful considering my schedule.
On arrival Mana greeted me warmly and she helped calm my stress. Dr Ali Babalou was very professional, patient, kind, and extremely informative. He explained what he was looking for, the parameters of the scan and informing me about what different types of testing afforded me in real terms, and best next steps. I feel so grateful for finding Phoenix Ultrasound, and highly recommend anyone to trust these wonderful people.

So I got a last minute gender reveal appointment for 13 weeks. It was £245. It was one of my impulsive moments and I wish I had waited and not paid so much for it. Firstly, the imaging of the scan was terrible! I could barely make out the babies head or body parts. With my nhs scan 2 weeks prior I could fully see my baby moving around kicking and it looked like an actual baby!!
Paying £245 I really thought I would have a nice moment being able to see the baby properly but the scan was horrible and as you can imagine the pictures we took home were embarrassing to even show family because it looked like nothing, my husband was like where is the baby? I didn’t even know what to tell him because I didn’t know myself! My free nhs scan looked miles better.
Secondly, the way the tech delivered the gender was not ideal. I was watching what he was doing the whole time and I don’t remember him looking at the genitalia at all and all of a sudden he just knew what the sex was. Unless he did look and I wouldn’t know since it all looked like a big ball of nothing. But if he did it would have been brief and I would have assumed it would take a while with me being only 13 weeks? So, he delivered it by saying ‘this is your son’s thigh bone’ I’m like sorry my son?? He’s like no I didn’t say that. Then he proceeded to call the baby a ‘he’. I’m like so you do know the sex?? He’s like yes it’s a boy. I really thought it would have been delivered in a more exciting way like allowing me to see the potty shot or at least asking me if I’m ready to know the gender, Because this all happened within only a couple of mins of me being there. Idk this whole scan just feels like a scam to me, whether he for sure knows it’s a boy or if he just guessed and chances are 50% that he’s correct who knows? It just seemed too soon for him to know but he seemed really confident. I am looking to confirm this at 16 weeks as I’m still left unsatisfied with how the scan went. Which I’m only paying £50 for the 16w one!!! I don’t know how I allowed myself to pay £245 for this scan I honestly wish I had never, it wasn’t a ‘heart warming’ experience for me as I could barely even see my baby. For those thinking of doing it please don’t! Just wait for the 16w one, it’s a lot cheaper. I did a 16w one with my other two kids and it was much better!!! This place feels like a scam that robbed me of my money. I don’t think I would be this upset if it wasn’t this expensive.

Dear Mrs. Faryal Miah
Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We are genuinely sorry to hear that this scan did not meet your expectations, especially as this should always be a special and reassuring moment during pregnancy.
We would like to clarify a few important points for accuracy and transparency.
Firstly, the purpose of the 13-week Early Gender Scan is specifically and solely the early determination of fetal sex, which is exactly how this appointment was advertised, selected, and booked. As with all ultrasound examinations, each scan has a different clinical and technical objective. Unlike NHS dating scans or later private reassurance scans, this appointment focuses almost entirely on targeted views of the genital region, not full anatomical or cinematic imaging of the baby. For this reason, the images may appear less recognisable or “whole-body” compared with scans performed at later gestations.
After reviewing your scan internally, our senior clinical team confirmed that the images obtained were of good diagnostic quality and entirely appropriate for a 13-week gender assessment. It is also important to note that fetal appearance changes significantly between 13 and 16 weeks, and scans at 16 weeks are naturally clearer and more visually recognisable — something we always explain to patients both verbally and on our website.
Regarding the delivery of the gender result, we are sorry that this was not communicated in the way you hoped. While our sonographers are highly experienced and clinically accurate, we acknowledge that presentation and communication style matter, and we take this feedback seriously. We will be addressing this internally to ensure expectations are better aligned and moments are delivered more sensitively.
To address concerns about accuracy:
Phoenix Ultrasound operates under a strict Early Gender Accuracy Policy. In the extremely unlikely event that an early gender diagnosis is later proven incorrect, we offer a refund of five times the cost of the Early Gender Scan. We are proud to say that this has never occurred to date. The gender in your scan was identified confidently using established sonographic markers appropriate for this gestational age.
Regarding pricing, we fully appreciate that £245 is a significant amount. Phoenix Ultrasound has never positioned itself as the cheapest provider in London. Our pricing reflects senior sonographers, extended appointment times, strict quality assurance, internal image review, and advanced ultrasound equipment. We encourage all patients to compare providers and choose what best suits their expectations and priorities.
We are truly sorry that this scan did not feel like the heart-warming experience you hoped for. However, we would like to reassure you — and future readers — that your scan was clinically correct, professionally performed, and appropriately delivered for a 13-week Early Gender appointment.
If you would like to discuss your experience further or would like additional clarification, we warmly invite you to contact us directly by phone or email. We are always happy to explain, review, and support our patients.
We wish you a smooth remainder of your pregnancy and hope your upcoming scan provides the reassurance and experience you are looking for.

The front desk staff are all lovely🙏🏾 and friendly, even when they mistook me for another client that was late they were still really nice about it 😂 (who ever that late client was will be lucky). I was able to book same day appointment over the phone with a kind gentleman (I had a 2-3month wait time for an NHS ultrasound, couldn't wait that long for appointment).
The Practitioner I saw Dr. Williams for the pelvic (uterus and ovaries) ultrasound was very kind and reassuring, especially for the transvaginal ultrasound she was gentle as I was nervous. We were trying to see what the source of my pain was, and I was asking about what we were seeing on screen and she was happy to describe. Got my Ultrasound results same day which I gave to my doctors surgery to file for later discussion. The practice is clean and bright. It was quite easy for me to get to. I would use them again if I had to.😊👏🏾🙌🏾💫

What an incredible experience! From the moment we walked through the door, both the receptionist and the doctor were so welcoming and kind. We came in for our gender reveal ultrasound, and they made it feel truly magical from start to finish.
The absolute highlight was the adorable teddy bear with our baby’s heartbeat inside 🥹, we even got to choose the colour! It’s such a beautiful keepsake we’ll treasure forever.
We were also given lots of amazing photos and videos of our little one, far more than we expected! Honestly, I never imagined an ultrasound could feel so emotional and special.
If you’re expecting, I couldn’t recommend this clinic enough. They turn a simple scan into a memory you’ll hold onto for a lifetime. 💕

I was given a date to come in, i went only to be told that it wasn't the day and to come back tomorrow. I explained I couldn.t come in the next day to which all was accepted. I then received a email saying i missed my appointment to which they refused to help me any further and just took my money. Disgusting practice, please be aware.
