We visited in November so didn't get full use of the park. But the caravan was amazing, clean, spacious and with a hot tub too which we all loved. The facilities we used were great. Food was amazing. We also visited the golf club next door which the whole family loved having a go at the driving range
Great place to stay, we booked a premium caravan with an option for a hot tub. The caravan was spotless, spacious and had everything we needed.
The hot tub was sparkling clean and was cleaned every morning we stayed.
The site is in a great location and very clean, has swimming pool with good facilities. The pool was clean, changing rooms clean and up to date, also has a sauna, steam room & a gym.
We didn’t try the restaurant or entertainment onsite as the kids would prefer to go into town and eat out and be down at the pier.
When we first bought our holiday caravan here three years ago, I couldn’t stop raving about Hoburne to anyone who would listen. It was a clean, well-equipped holiday park with gorgeous food and genuinely friendly staff.
However, after spending a lot more time here, the cracks have become impossible to ignore. The police are now regular visitors to deal with incidents in the alcohol-fuelled Club House — the drugs and fighting make it feel like something out of a 999 documentary. The launderette is well equipped BUT you need to be the prince of Wales to afford to use it.
The swimming pool and sauna area are misused by young staff who treat it like a place to pose and flirt. Babies are taken into the sauna, and unruly children are left to mess around dangerously without supervision.
The arcade is okay — that’s about the only positive left. The ball pit for younger children seems to breed all kinds of unpleasantness.
Worryingly, one particular staff member from the on-site shop tears around the park roads like it’s a racetrack, easily hitting 40 mph on roads where families and children walk.
I could go on and on. Sadly, it’s a far cry from the park we first fell in love with.
Miserable week and a waste of money.
The indoor swimming pool was closed all week when the weather was terrible. The outdoor pool was ice cold and unusable for a toddler.
The premium caravan was run down and worn out.
The hot tub was useless, the jets didn’t work so essentially a 38 degree bath (the temp drops the longer you are in there too).
I complained about the loss of facilities and hot tub and was offered 10percent off another visit to go with the returning customer 30 percent off that us to be used within a month of your stay.
The 30 percent returning customer offer is a total farce too. I booked this break with the offer last year, but the break was even cheaper than I had paid nearer the time, so there was NO discount, I paid more than guests without the offer!
I was told in the complaint that you are not meant to be able to change the jets in the hot tub so apparently it’s fine to have a useless hot tub with zero jets.
Oh and the tots hour… advertised starting at 5.30 pm (from memory). We waited with an inpatient 2 year old for this, who was running away to the arcade/softplay. When it started, it was just a motionless video with a 15 minute counter and some songs on. After the 15 minutes of waiting, a character came out for a ‘meet and greet’ for photos for a few minutes and then back to another interval. That was it for our two year old. Completely unsuitable for tots who are known for short attention spans!
Devon has so many other places to stay so I would advise you to find something better than this!
Hoburne Devon bay is a great little place to go for a little local vacation. More seating needed for the entertainment as it doesnt really cater for the amount of people staying and coming to watch the shows or play bingo, so expect to hang around waiting for a table to become available, but one usually does eventually.
Pools are good.
