The CPRW designation has been in existence since PARWCC’s founding in 1990. In that time, thousands of people have achieved the certification by sitting successfully for the exam. Each candidate is required to submit a resume, cover letter, and justification page to explain or defend strategy and decisions made during the course of the exam.

Every submission is judged anonymously by a panel of highly respected, trained, and current CPRWs using a rubric. The aggregate score of the rubrics submitted by the judging panel is then used to determine passing or failing. The categories for review are grammar, punctuation, spelling, writing mechanics, strategy, style, and formatting.

Achieving the CPRW is determined only by the results of the documents submitted for adjudication. It is not awarded for a candidate’s perceived successes or failures in the marketplace.

PARWCC is the oldest association for career service providers in the world and currently serves a membership of more than 3,000 writers and coaches who are committed to providing job seekers with the most current, appropriate, and ethical career support possible.
