This was one of the best decisions I have ever made for my best friend.
Diesel, my three year old rescue dog, was highly reactive and showed extreme anxiety on leash around other dogs. He was lunging, jumping, and completely out of control. Diesel is a working breed with a lot of energy, and it became clear he needed structure, guidance, and purpose.
Growing up with two dogs and watching them be trained gave me a strong belief that proper training matters. I tried every collar, leash, and harness on the market, but nothing helped. If anything, Diesel was objectively getting worse, and it was heartbreaking to see my best friend so anxious and reactive.
After researching trainers, we found Pacific K9 Dog Training and scheduled a free consultation with Ore. He drove to our apartment, met Diesel, and observed his behavior firsthand. Ore immediately understood Diesel’s reactivity and patiently answered all of my questions and concerns.
For my birthday, my mother gifted me the boarding and lesson package. It was difficult boarding Diesel for his first two weeks of training, but we already had a trip planned, so the timing worked out perfectly. Throughout that time, Ore sent frequent updates with videos and pictures. Within just one week, the difference in Diesel’s behavior was unbelievable.
When I returned from my trip, I had my first in-person lesson with Ore and was reunited with Diesel. He looked happy and peaceful, which was incredible to see. Ore spent the morning working one-on-one with me, teaching me how to handle Diesel properly, recognize his triggers, and correct behaviors in real time. I still remember walking Diesel past random dogs while he stayed focused on me without pulling or reacting. I was genuinely shocked.
Now that I have completed the full training program, I can say the results have been life changing. But I also want to be clear: this is not a quick fix. The training gives you the tools and the roadmap, but it is on you to stay consistent and build the kind of relationship with your dog that creates a calm, positive environment. Diesel and I are still a work in progress, and that is the honest truth. The difference is that now I actually understand what he needs, how to communicate with him, and how to correct issues before they spiral.
