Fantastic teachers, really makes all the difference, their knowledge and passion to make sure students succeed. They also do free courses to get more people involved. I rarely write reviews but I had to give a huge shout out to On The Rise’s Head Tutor & founder Terry. I started my DJ journey 18 months ago and with Terry’s expert guidance, I’m booking international gigs and playing at some of the most prestigious venues in London. Terry is a phenomenal teacher - what he doesn’t know about the art of DJing isn’t worth knowing. His style is so personalised to each student and I count him as not only my tutor but DJ mentor now. I haven’t only used Terry’s expertise when I was learning the fundamentals but also when I’ve had a new gig brief come in I want to learn more on. If you feel like you want to expand your DJ knowledge as a veteran or want to learn the fundamentals, Terry and On the Rise are your go-to.

Recent lockdown has been the perfect chance to pick this up again and I look forward to my weekly online lessons :) Terry is an brilliant teacher as well as a fountain of knowledge. I bought my 19 year old daughter a 4 hour lesson with Terry (Atomic Hooligan) and I couldn't rate the experience enough!! Terry is friendly and welcoming and tailors the lesson to suit music preference and ability! My daughter is a beginner and by the end, recorded her own set! The teaching style is very informative and takes the time to explain the basics and done in a way that makes it feel accessible and fun, whilst actually pushing the lesson forward so you feel that you've accomplished something!! We've now gone on with Terry's advice on what equipment to buy!! I really recommend On the Rise for anyone wanting to try DJ'ING a very friendly and supportive place, thank you 🥰

The idea of learning how to DJ was floating around my head for a while. I decided to take a chance and booked a 16 hour course. I have now completed the course and have to say i loved every minute of the lessons, learning from a great teacher in Terry. He taught me the fundamentals of Dj-ing/trying different mixing techniques and the vibe was always good. I thoroughly recommend this course for anyone who loves music and wants to develop a new skill.

I had a 4 hour lesson to help me to up my game to the next level. I've been DJing for many years but felt that I had hit a plateau. Terry helped me massively by showing me many techniques to take my sets further and apply more dynamics. I'll definitely be back for more lessons

After a couple of sessions with Terry, my limited knowledge and skills around how to DJ properly increased massively. He's a great teacher, the lessons are fun, and I got to spend quality learning time on great DJ gear that I simply wouldn't have otherwise experienced. Came knowing absolutely nothing about how to DJ and after 12 hours of one-to-one sessions with Terry, I can safely say I'm not so bad at it. Made me feel at ease and very comfortable, being able to have conversations about stuff other than DJing as well. Terry's experience enabled him to give me important information that maybe not all other DJ's know. After debating whether I wanted to learn to DJ, I decided why not and turns out I loved every minute. Highly recommend it. Worth every penny.

We've had a couple of sessions with Terry now, myself and my two boys - 13 and 11 years old. We had very productive sessions and learned a LOT. Both Terry and Keisha are patient and great at breaking down each technical element of DJ'ing. We also had a great session on how to manage music. Would highly recommend On The Rise DJ Academy.

I worked with Terry Ryan a while ago and never got round to giving a review, but when I think back, the work I did with him has made such a difference to my mixing ability. He is really easy going and teaches you the fundamentals so that you have a firm basis on which to improve your mixing as a DJ. Well worth the time and money. Go for it!

I organised an event where I took a group of clients to meet their target audience and the evening was a great success thanks to Terry and his team. Terry took the time to have a phone briefing and also made himself available so I could come and check out the space - he really seemed to understand the importance of the night for me.
