For Onpoint Victoria: I recently had work done on two aluminum patio doors that had stopped sliding. The total bill was $600. When I asked for a breakdown on the cost of parts and labour, I was told that they don't do breakdowns but that 20% would be for parts and 80% labour, training, warranty, and “know how” (exactly how the latter differs from training was not specified)
So here's how I broke it down: Parts $120, labour, warranty, training and know how $480. Warranties are usually 1% to 2% of the cost, say $12. Training depends on the type of work, but it usually ranges from 5% to15%. So since this is not exactly IT training or even electrical or plumbing training let's be fair and say 10%, or $60 (When I was younger I replaced the rollers and cleaned the tracks on similar doors without any training, but they are too heavy for me now.) $60 plus $12= $72, subtracted from 480 = $408. The serviceman was here for 1 hour and 45 minutes, which would be an hourly charge of $204 which is more expensive than most electricians or plumbers. You can decide whether or not this is good value for your money.

Here’s what’s actually behind that number in a simple way:
The rollers themselves are one small piece. The real work is safely removing the door (which can be heavy and fragile), diagnosing the correct rollers out of hundreds of options, reinstalling, aligning, cleaning the track, and making sure everything runs properly without damaging the glass or frame.
There’s also the part most people don’t see, if something goes wrong during that process, like glass breakage or frame damage, that’s on us, not you. That risk is built into the service.
On top of that, the visit includes:
• A fully stocked service vehicle so the repair can be done same day
• Travel time, dispatch, and scheduling
• A trained technician who can get it done in one visit
• Warranty on the work and supplied parts
So while the time onsite was 1 hour and 45 minutes, the service itself is a full-cycle solution, not just time on a clock.
That said, we always provide the full price before starting, so each person can decide if it feels right for them, no pressure either way.

I had two sliding glass doors that were 30 plus years old that didn’t slide properly anymore. Replacing the doors would be very costly so I called Onpoint to come and give me a quote for a repair. The quote was quite reasonable so I had the repair completed that same day. The technician, Jackson was very friendly and knowledgeable and had both doors repaired and operating properly in about 90 minutes. I highly recommend Onpoint and Jackson.
