This was such an amazing and rewarding experience. We have always had dogs, but this was the first puppy in a long time and we wanted to do it right. We knew we wanted him to be a social, happy dog, that we could take everywhere. Vacations, breweries, hiking, etc.
We were paired with Brian, and I couldn’t have picked anyone better! Sonny is a foxhound, the hound is stubborn and very intelligent. Brian knew how to keep him happy, keep his personality, and learn how he learns. Which also translates to him teaching us how he learns. The whole program, the availability and willingness to help from not only Brian, but the whole staff, was absolutely amazing.
We take him to Lowe’s, and get stopped for compliments on his behavior. We’ve never had a dog who gets approached for good behavior, so it definitely is a nice surprise.
If you want a well behaved dog, whether it’s a fresh puppy, or an older rescue, make the investment. Time, money, treats, etc, the investment is well worth it to have a well behaved dog who understands what you’re asking of him. Also, ask for Brian, great trainer, great vibes, and truly wants what is best for you.

K9 was absolutely amazing with our 2 y/o rescue pup. They were super helpful from start to finish of our 5 week program. They answered our many questions and tailored each week towards struggles we were having with our pup while also introducing new learning objectives. They knew our goals we established at the beginning of the program and gave us the tools to accomplish them. Our biggest goal was learning how to work through our dog’s reactivity towards other dogs, which we feel better prepared for on how to manage now. We are excited to go to club training on Saturdays (which is free and included for life after you complete their program). Katie was our trainer and was simply amazing, but all the trainers we interacted with were very kind and helpful! Would absolutely recommend K9 for all your doggo needs.

I recently retired and now had the time to get a puppy again. I have always had Chocolate Labrador Retrievers so I got an 8-week old Chocolate Lab puppy named Windsor. He was so tiny that I could carry him in my hand…he only weighed 10 pounds! He quickly reminded me how much work having a puppy can be! As he grew, he became a bit of a challenge because of his natural friendliness, exuberance and strength. I knew that he would need training, so I decided to explore options. I looked into buying an online course/program but it was obvious that this was the wrong approach for Windsor and me (although I did waste some money on them!). A neighbor suggested I take Windsor to PetSmart for their training. And I did! What a waste of time and money!
So…back to the drawing board to find a proper trainer. My research led me to Obedient K9 (OK9). I liked the fact that they recognized training of the human was just as important as the dog. And boy did I need training! I scheduled an initial consultation with an instructor at OK9 at which I described Windsor’s (now 5 months old!) and my training needs. It was such a great meeting, and I decided right then to proceed with a seven-week program (provided that Alana would be the instructor). I requested Alana because she had an amazing set of Google reviews. This was a significant investment but one that I felt would reap great dividends…and I was right! I am thoroughly impressed with the results.
From the very first session, Alana demonstrated exceptional professionalism, patience, and a deep understanding of canine behavior. She customized the training plan to fit Windsor’s and my unique needs and took the time to explain every step clearly. Windsor quickly made progress under Alana’s tutelage and from the very first session noticeable progress was made. Before the first session walks were almost impossible to take because of his pulling on the leash and jumping at people walking by. Suddenly we could take proper walks! It was wonderful and very motivating. I now feel much more confident in handling challenging situations.
I take Windsor everywhere I go…Costco, Sam’s Club, Walmart, Harris Teeter, Home Depot, Best Buy, etc. He walks next to me and the cart in a calm manner. I was initially worried that I could not actually shop when we went to the stores. I was especially concerned how things would go when we were in the checkout line. I shouldn’t have worried…Windsor was/is great. I can shop without fearing an embarrassing incident. People are constantly complimenting us on his great behavior. They are shocked when I tell them he is only 7 months old. They all think Windsor is a service dog. I attribute this to the training provided by Alana and Obedient K9.
Obedient K9 gives dog owners that tools they need to have a great dog including training materials, access to their app and videos, free group classes (called CLUB) and free lifetime support. The facility is clean and well-organized, and the staff is always friendly and approachable. You can tell they all care deeply for the dogs they train. Their communication with owners was/is exceptional. What I appreciated most was their positive reinforcement methods, which made the learning experience enjoyable for both Windsor and me.
Overall, I highly recommend Obedient K9 to anyone seeking effective, compassionate, and reliable dog training. They truly care about their clients and furry friends, and the results speak for themselves. We look forward to a long relationship with OK9!

I have a VERY excited 2 1/2 year old golden retriever. My main issue with Bauer and the reason I brought him to obedient K9 was because of his excitement and his jumping. We had Brendan as our trainer and Bauer absolutely loved him! Brendan did such a good job with Bauer and he also did a good job with me - explaining and showing me his training techniques, in a way that made sense to me, and also the why behind it. It is a ton of work on the pet owner, but we have to understand jt takes time for our dogs to learn something new and for it to become a habit. Bauer is a much better walker now and he’s been able to be at breweries with me and actually settle down. His jumping and excitement I think will always be a work in progress but I’m confident with attending Club Classes on Saturdays and my consistent training, that he’ll eventually settle in those areas.
I very much appreciated Brendan’s work with Bauer and wish Bauer could spend a day with him every week!

I walked into K9 Obedience with low confidence and feeling very upset about my dog Maisy’s behavior. Manny made us feel so comfortable right away and took the time to walk us through the entire training process. Alana has been working with my 7-month-old Chiweenie for the past 5 weeks, and I can now say that Maisy is a completely different dog she is confident, well-behaved, and happy! Brendan was always a smiling face when we walked in and was so helpful every time.

We are very satisfied with the secondary school training we enrolled in. The program is well thought out from assessment to onboarding to weekly classes/homework. Our dog is night and day positively different in the way we envisioned. Weekly sessions were with trainer AJ who was a constant positive influence on improving our dog’s personal behavior/discipline as well as coaching us during the course. AJ was a joy to work and build rapport with, truly a good guy who cared about our dog. We will kiss the weekly sessions but will be back for the alumni group outings.

Wow! That's the best expression I can muster for our experience with Obedient K9. We are incredibly impressed with the training that our English Cocker Spaniel, Archibald, received thanks to our trainer Alana. She was exceptionally enthusiastic about her job, personable, professional, and fun to interact with. Every week, we left our training session with the sentiment of "wow, that just solved every issue we've been having lately".
For the price of admission, you receive numerous video sessions with an incredibly knowledgeable, helpful, and personable trainer (Kirsten), an app with dozens of training videos, a plethora of in-person sessions, and a lifetime of support. Throughout our entire experience, we were well taken care of and had all of our questions promptly answered.
Not only is our high drive dog more well-behaved than we ever imagined, but we also feel confident in the fact that he will persist in his behavior with the continuous support that we have already received.

Obedient K9 was an amazing investment!! Brian did a phenomenal job with our stubborn and reactive frenchie and although we still have some behaviors to iron out due to his reactivity, we are now equipped with the tools necessary to help him succeed. We rescued our golden retriever in July. He needed love and attention that the previous family could not provide. At the age of 2, he had missed a lot of social queues. But he was very sweet and we needed some guidance. We decided to commute to k9 obedience which was a 90 minute commute. But oh so worth it. Alana was the best trainer for Rooney. Kelly and the team were amazing to work with. I highly recommend this place if you are looking for a big change in your dog’s behavior. My 9 year old beagle had issues with walking on a leash and settling in place. Kelly was able to help our dog do a full 180! He barely even needs a leash at this point to go on walks. Our trainer AJ was great! He was attentive and direct. He was never judgmental or acted like our dog needed to be at any level then where our dog was currently at. He was helpful and patient with areas/commands that we said we were struggling with and would spend as much time as needed on that lesson. When we get frustrated with not feeling like enough progress on was made, he was positive and encouraging. Our dog loved going to see AJ weekly! Would recommend to anyone with a brand new puppy or looking to strengthen skills or create a stronger skill set foundation.
Brendan would always welcome our dog every time we dropped him off with the best greeting like he was our dogs best friend and checked in with not only our dog but us weekly to see how he could help as well and to celebrate the victories with his training and milestones.
