Northern Café – A Hidden Historical Gem Worth Visiting ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Northern Café is a classy, cozy, and wonderfully historic café tucked inside a quiet neighborhood. It gets busy after 9am, so I’m glad I arrived early at 8am to enjoy the calm, inviting atmosphere.
Miho is incredibly kind — her warm morning smile truly brightened my day. You can feel that the owner and staff enjoy working here; the whole place has a happy, welcoming vibe that makes you feel right at home. The owner Richard are so kind and nice too, it made everyone feel like home.
A perfect spot to start your morning. Highly recommended!

We finally made it and was 100% worth it
The food was delightful ( even brought a jar of in house made special sauce that is available to purchase ) the service & the staff were very attentive and friendly...pointing out the money fridge and a few other points of interest.
We are from Calgary and visiting our son for his BDay so made for an extra special visit as I have been wanting to check this place out for some time.

I did not have the time to share my gratitude through a written review at the time I had placed these ratings, but I wish to do so now. Not only is the extraordinarily delicious food a worthwhile experience in and of itself, but the service and atmosphere is also second to none. I could go on about how lucky I am to live in close quarters of Northern Cafe, but I will also illustrate my appreciation with an example. Through the winter season, and the harshest of winter days, Northern Cafe remained open for business as if it was a beautiful summer day. My family had no hesitation to take advantage of this and trekked through the snow joyfully to obtain the scrumptiousness that is Northern Cafe. It was a perfect example of why it is not always about the journey, and more so about the destination. In our case, that destination was Northern Cafe. As always, upon arrival, we were greeted with the warmth and charm of kind smiles and warm-hearted service that was beyond exemplary. By the end, we left with not only a full stomach, but also a full heart. The team at Northern Cafe have time and time again made it clear that they value their customers and make an effort to connect with each of us who have the honour and privilege of visiting their fine establishment. In my most recent visit, I was thanked for bringing along my girlfriend and was handed a sticker. Though this gesture may seem small, it was one I will cherish and remember forever. To me, the sticker was a symbol of their appreciation for us as customers and a token of gratitude. It is not often you come by restuarants and establishments who go out of their way to care, respect, and accomodate their customers as much as Northern Cafe, and for those reasons we must all apprecieate the Mah family for always treating us like their own.

Amazing place hidden away. This is a word of mouth place. The owner's son was very nice had a great conversation with him about the history of the place his father started as a hobby he loves. He even still cooks there. Unfortunately he was on vacation when we went. Amazing food top notch I would say the best breakfast place I have been to. Had breakfast sandwich that you dipped in a sauce like hollendaise sauce was amazing flavor 😋. Glad to be part of the family. Join the family and try this place immediately!
Hands down the best brunch/breakfast spots I’ve tried in Vancouver. This gem of a place holds such a nostalgic atmosphere that no other could capture, from the entrance all the way to our table. The welcoming staffs treat us with excellent hospitality not felt anywhere before. The owner is very passionate about their food which makes the experience more personal for us. He tells us quite an bit about their chili sauce which were homemade and I find it very special and endearing. And last but not least the food; the fried chicken and french toast was bursting in flavors and textures, every garnish and elements on the plate are there to compliment each other. The acidic pickles, pico de gallo and coleslaw balance out the salty juicy fried chicken along with the with rich fluffy French toast doused in maple syrup. The flavours just all work out in a single bite. My friend on the other hand got the meat lovers omelette and he says it’s one of the best omelettes he’s ever had. We shared a plate of gyoza which were phenomenal. The texture of the pork filling is quite different from other gyoza I’ve tried as it is bouncier and had more of a bite to it. The wontons were amazing as well. It is safe to say we finished everything with nothing wasted. 10/10 an excellent diner, with excellent food, atmosphere, and service
A nice hidden gem, a good place for people going to northern building supply to get lunch or something to eat. Definitely got popular since we last been.
