When I started working with NLW, I had just gone through body changes and returned to work. I needed new clothes, but with limited shopping options where I live, I was stuck in a cycle of panic-buying, returning items, and never feeling prepared for events or travel.

When I was younger I used to love clothes—I mean searched-for-the-clothes-boxes-instead-of the-toy-boxes-under-the-Christmas-tree loved clothes as early as age 3 (there is video evidence). Then life, graduate school and years of post graduate school in a sector that doesn’t value style happened. I had ended up with a packed closet that was more of a time capsule storage unit than functional space, leaving me with mountains of things and still feeling like I had nothing to wear because the vast majority of it fit but was 10 years old. I had tried to clean it out 2 dozen times and just gotten overwhelmed and put everything back in. I also never felt like I could justify getting rid of anything because “there was nothing wrong with it” or buying anything because “I had a closet full of clothes” and therefore didn’t need it.
Cassandra and Lucia totally got where I was coming from and went through an extensive closet edit with me. They were very patient with my overwhelm and numerous questions; I really wanted to learn the why behind things and understand how things were coming together and what I really needed in my wardrobe to nail the style we put together with my Pinterest board. A lot of what I like is on chic end, but that feeling needed to be translated to everyday and wear-to-clinic attire, and I think we got there. The process for me ended up being more than just a style alignment; it was also a mindset shift with Lucia as my style therapist. I was able to move away from a utility only mindset—that I needed to keep things that were no longer aligned with my current phase of life and not buy anything I didn’t need—and reframe to seeing my wardrobe as an investment in myself and that having a higher quality item that you truly love and that brings you joy is reason in itself.
Getting dressed is an essential part of the day, and it’s now a bright spot in mine. I enjoy walking into my closet. When I packed for my last trip, there was no panic shopping involved. I felt put together every day for 3 weeks and only had a carry-on. 3 people in Greece told me I did not look American because I was dressed elegantly. I enjoy the wardrobe results, but the learning behind everything and changed perspective is the real prize.

Not only does Cassandra's system make sense, she helps you understand the psychology of and marketing impact of the fashion industry on you, your style, and your closet! I decided I was worth the investment and I signed up for the virtual styling session. Cassandra's method helped me define my fashion style and provided me tools to continue to refine my style. I can't say enough wonderful things about NLW! As a working mom who travels quite a bit, my style was never something I paid much attention to. I was shopping based on sales, influencer posts and "emergency shopping trips." That made for a very low quality, mismatched wardrobe and I never really looked put together. Enter NLW! I was worried that I wasn't the type of client that NLW caters to as I am retired. In my career, I mostly wore uniforms but now I have more time to attend my husband’s professional events or upscale social events. It’s always been a struggle for me to put items together to create a polished, cohesive outfit. I found myself feeling lost and bored with the jumble of mismatched items in my closet and constantly buying outfits for specific events was inefficient, time-consuming, expensive and burdensome. I wanted to try creating a more upscale, sustainable capsule wardrobe and I reached out to NLW for help. I was thrilled that NLW could work with me and help me curate a wardrobe that reflects my style and fits my needs. The editing process was intense and I had to do it in stages. Creating the Pinterest board was so fun and it helped me see new style possibilities. Now I love how well my mostly new wardrobe coordinates.
The main reasons I chose to work with NLW are as follows:
- The color pyramid with the 4 core colors and using them to coordinate a variety of outfits with minimal items made a lot of sense and was something I wanted to further explore.
- I liked that NLW is a pay upfront for services and not tied to a sales commission structure. I felt that this would provide more diversity in style options and no pressure to purchase items. I felt that there was enough info provided, without too much of a teaser, that I could easily have worked on my wardrobe by myself if I didn't have funds to purchase services. I understand that NLW is a business that wants to generate income and a specific clientele, but I felt that the content of the free information was an indication that NLW also wanted to genuinely reach a broader audience and provide the opportunity to learn about style without strings attached.
