First time at this fishery today and my son and I had a fab time. Very welcoming staff and an amazing service from them. The fishing was tough at times but left with 4 amazing fish and some epic battles to land them. We’ll definitely be back.

Yesterday, I had the most peaceful and rewarding fly fishing experience on the lake. The tranquil waters and serene surroundings made for an unforgettable day, especially with the six lovely rainbow trout I caught! A standout feature was the excellent service – the ladies and staff were fantastic, assisting with P's convenience, bagging, weighing, and storing the fish, and even providing complimentary teas and coffees, with that thoughtful option to order bacon or fish finger sandwiches to eat. A truly perfect day of fishing!"

I purchased a fly fishing instruction day for my other half to celebrate his 70th birthday. He hadn't fly fished for more than 15 years. We could not have been made more welcome by all the staff at Moorhen Trout Fishery. He was met by his instructor Jim Wilson who quickly got him back into the swing of things. Going on to catch two lovely Trout with the help of some expert advice from Jim. Well definitely be back to spend some more time at this stunning Fishery in the beautiful Meon Valley. Another outstanding company day!
Whilst this started out as a company day for my company it has now fast become more of a gathering of friends.
And with this in mind these people are so important to me!
I cannot think of anywhere better to take me friends for a days trout fishing.
Jamie and Michelle are so genuinely friendly and helpful.
The set up is relaxed and informal but as the same time so professional.
The catering was excellent and great value.
If you’re thinking about a place to book to take friends or clients ?
You could do no better.

A visit to Moorhen Trout Fishery on 6th and 7th was met with welcoming comfort from our hosts Jamie and Michelle who were very accommodating, providing wonderful complimentary teas and coffees and attention to detail when we landed a trout as well as tending to the lake's clear water and surrounding wildlife with good knowledge especially in the very dry spell this year. The anglers were lovely to meet and chat with and Thank you for the assistance in catching the second trout :)
I highly recommend the local honey — it’s tended to with great care, as we learned from the hosts. Thank you and we hope to see you soon.

Amazing place to visit , Me and my wife popped in a few weeks ago to find out about fly fishing lessons on a Sunday morning and we were greeted with smiles and lots of information and we booked there and then for a lesson. a few weeks later we arrived for our lesson and the greeting was first class we both felt that we have known Michelle and James for years and some of the regulars joined in the banter between me and Leah because the lesson had turned into who was going to catch the first fish !! Jim took us for the lesson and he was so so good in explaining all the skills needed to fly fish and he even spent more time then we had paid for which in this day and age is priceless. Me and Leah highly recommend Moorhen Trout fishery !!!!

Birthday Fly fishing treat
First time of visiting Moorhen, For. birthday treat my wife Hazel brought us both a 4 fish day, I have to say the grounds looked superbly presented, with very clear water making it easy to see the fish, however not so easy to catch them though, although I managed a 2lb 8 Oz Trout..
The welcome from Michelle, Jamie was off on a Course match fishing day, was very friendly and she explained about the site and its amenities etc and what work that they had done since taking over just under a year ago.
Free tea or coffee whilst fishing and Bacon rolls available if needed.
The on site shop is well stocked with Greys and Snowbee products as well as a good selection of flys and fly timing materials available.
having a fish credit system means we will definitely be back to try and catch those elusive trout we saw, with only a small charge to cover the cost of using the facilities for the day applied.
Filleted and pan fried the trout for Sunday Dinner and it tasted wonderful.

What an amazing day at Moorhen trout fishery .
I’m confined to a wheelchair so fishing and venues are hard to find for my electric wheelchair ,but I found the perfect venue at Moorhen .
Not only are Jamie and Michelle the most welcoming of owners but they have made the fishery so accessible with new fishing platforms and grass banks to use in a electric wheelchair ,
Almost all the lake is fishable from an electric wheelchair or scooter and with assistance a self propelled one could be used but it would be hard work on your own as you are on grass and gravel .
,only one or two places might be a little difficult but only due to the natural terrain and if you can’t walk at all .
The lodge and shop are excellent as are the drinks and bacon rolls and nothing is to much trouble for the new owners who also have on going plans for other improvements and amenities in the near future ,I caught two lovely trout as a bonus .
If you are disabled in any form and love fly fishing please try Moorhen ,you won’t be disappointed and lots of pictures on their website will confirm this .

Lovely place, immersed in Nature. Canadian duck were around. Fish is abundant to catch ang gives a good fight. Smallest fish I took wa just over 2lb. The taste of the fish is clean and fresh.

Arrived without a booking after a spur of the moment decision for a dangle.Full of antisipation we rocked up to reception to pay but our hopes were dashed as it was fully booked.After a little commiseration from the team they had to refuse our entry as they didnt want to ruin the experience for there other guests by overcrowding which in commendable.We were just reversing out of the fishery when i was aware of waving hands and another fisherman who was tackling up approaching my window.Have i hit a post or something i thought, but no a cancellation had come through so we were in🤗What a stroke of luck as we had a great day at this fabulous place and were made to feel very welcome by the team and the local anglers who provided info on how to catch.Fully loaded tackle shop and refreshing tea and coffee supplied free of charge, so no need for a stewed flask🤗well done all👊👊

Brilliant day. Morning spent being taught how to cast and present the fly. Afternoon put in to practice. 2 fish caught. Jim a very good teacher. Jason and Michelle welcoming. Will be going back very soon
1st time at this great fishery, need a return visit.
My first time today fishing Moorhen fishery. Wonderfully friendly place, beautiful surroundings. Nice cup of tea! The fish were in prime condition and fought very well. Good fly shop on site and an easy location to get to. I saw some very nice fish come out to other anglers also during my session. I was delighted with my 2 and 5 pounders! Have to get back there soon.

Wow- what an amazing experience! I took my grandson for his first ever fly fishing experience this morning and it was incredible! He had the best morning ever- I’d particularly like to thank Jamie who made the whole experience wonderful and took the time to explain everything to my grandson. I really couldn’t rate this whole experience more highly and would recommend to everyone!
What a wonderful experience! I just had a lesson with Jim Wilson provided by the Moorhen team. Michelle and Jamie were extremely welcoming and I felt very much at home. (Bacon sandwich and tea was wonderful) Jim provided a great day of tuition which landed me two 3 lbs rainbow trout. (Which I have just eaten one of them) I had a great day. Ps thanks to Holly for the initial booking! Just brilliant 👍🏻

Just had the best day at Moorhen Farm Trout Fishery .
Having had many trout days there with the previous owners I was obviously slightly apprehensive about the change of management but had NO NEED TO BE!!
It was better

I fished in my second competition there today and THOROUGHLY enjoyed it!
The team are so genuinely friendly, great banter , the other competitors are becoming known more to each other and add to the banter and friendly vibe! The prizes , food , fishing and customer care are great value and I urge anyone wanting a fun day fishing to get involved!
I saw a monster come out , almost a double figure and of course he won a nice tackle voucher 👍🏻
I’ve been fishing here since 1988 and seen it change hands many times but Moorhen now has an owner who cares for, understands and knows fly fishers.
If you’re new to the sport , been fishing a while or a seasoned angler , Moorhen has something to offer you !! Don’t hesitate, try it , you won’t be disappointed!
Im a regular here. This is a great fishery with amazing owners who are really helpful and friendly. We always get a really warm welcome and being able to get food is an added bonus. Always a great days fishing
