After 8 years, I was belittled for following the instructions given to contact via the support email only. For some reason the support email stopped working and I stopped getting responses for at least a month, probably longer, I havent bothered to check.
After being sworn at and told I'm stupid and bad at business (I'll add the screenshots of the conversation if I can for anyone who is interested. I've only EVER contacted via email at mindsite's explicit request), I decided to move to a different company.
not only is the new company 1/4 of the cost, it's a significantly better service. every time I made contact, I felt like an annoyance and inconvenience. I avoided contact as much as possible, although had to contact for the many times of bot attacks, checkout malfunctions and general website not functioning correctly.
whilst with mindsite I was told my site was too big and I should be paying more.
the new company still has 10Gig available space after migration of the website and emails. the emails were split and kept on 2 difference servers which cost me more to migrate.
a normal migration takes 2-4 hours. but because of the mess mindsite made of my website it took 12 hours and has been a very expensive thing to do (should have only cost around $250-$450, but instead is costing around $1500).
I'm very disappointed at everything I've found out about the website and its "management". Thankfully I've found a company that is professional and is happy to do the work required, without making me feel like a massive pain and inconvenience. I'm just sad it took so long for me to realise how unimportant I really was to mindsite. and in totally embarrassed that I was genuinely concerned about them when I didn't get a response for so long. I finally contacted via Facebook Messenger (which is a big no-no, I was told to never do that) because I was worried. how stupid of me.

1. Communication & Contact
You were not restricted to email. Our support line (02) 9161 1696 has always been available, and you have contacted us via phone in the past, which is logged on our phone system. We have call logs confirming this. The claim that email was your only method of communication is incorrect.
2. Pricing, Length of Service & Friend Arrangement
Your website build was never charged to you, and your monthly fee remained well below market value for the services provided and was never increased in the 8 years, other than the cost for upgrading your server which was done AT COST ($50). This all was done as a goodwill arrangement because you were a friend, not just a standard client. Over time, your usage reached approximately 30GB website data + 30GB emails, all supported under your existing monthly cost. We also covered hosting, multiple standard licences, maintenance and SEO at no additional charge for many years.
3. Email Response Issue
The gap in email responses was due to your address being blacklisted by external RAT spam filters, meaning your messages did not reach our helpdesk inbox. The support phone line was available the entire time and would have resolved this immediately.
4. Swearing & Tone Clarification
You also stated “I do not do phone calls”, despite having called us in the past. In response, we said that is not a smart business decision in a business-critical situation, especially when your emails were not reaching us. That comment was about the decision not to call, not swearing at you. This was interpreted by you as swearing, which is not accurate. Anyone can call us for full disclosure and for us to provide chat logs and proof that you have called us previously.
5. Website Migration Costs
You mentioned your new provider spent 12 hours and charged approximately $1,500 to migrate. When we migrated your site at the beginning of the year to the upgraded server, it was done free of charge and completed in under one hour. What another provider charges for migration is outside our control and does not reflect the condition of the site under our management. If you have been charged that amount, that is between you and your new provider.
6. Website Performance Clarification
We never said your website was “too large”. In fact, that is not terminology we would use. You complained about performance; our advice was based on performance issues from ongoing custom changes made by you without planning. We recommended premium hosting with higher resources (NVMe, 6 CPU cores, 8GB RAM, dedicated IP) and moving your email to its own server, which you agreed to.
7. Value Provided Over 8 Years
Across the relationship you received:
• free website build
• only fee change when we upgraded your server to cover the hosting cost
• heavily discounted hosting & support
• free migration previously
• premium resources without price increase
• priority support
• ongoing fixes even when caused by external changes
• 8 years of continued management, based on trust and a friend level of support rather than strict commercial billing
To summarise for transparency:
Several statements in the review do not align with our documented history. We maintained service and support significantly below commercial rates and acted in good faith throughout the relationship.
You came at us very irate and agry off the bat, taking us off guard, when we eventually understood the issue. You became even more irate when we questioned your refusal to call after you stated the issue was business critical. If something is business critical, a phone call should be the first option, especially after a month of no response when you know how responsive we are — otherwise you would not have stayed as a client for 8 years.
