5 Stars, except for one thing..
Always a great time. This is our 4th stay at MP. Already booked the next one. The room was spotless. The food was awesome, even though I'm getting pickier about what I eat. Even though the regular buffet area was being completely refurbished top to bottom, service continued to be excellent. They just did things a little differently, and if you'd never been there before you might not have even noticed, other than the obvious construction. Service everywhere was awesome. The grounds are a British gardeners dream. The dive operation was smooth as always. There was one problem for one of the group. There was crap in his tank that blew into his regulators. That's serious. Im not sure how, or if they made it right. I wouldn't use my regset until a rebuild after that. That little filter isnt something you want clogged, and aluminum oxide isn't something I want in my lungs. My issue with the dives was that the shop we booked the trip through (Dive&Glide Scuba of Midland MI) included an uncertified diver/student in the group. That was a factor in the dive sites chosen by the divemaster. Not Mayan Divers fault. I requested to be put on another boat. That request was not honored. I believe that was also not Mayan Divers fault. As a professional, I get paid to dive with students, I don't pay $50 a dive to be on the boat with them. I know I spent more time on the sand at 40/50 feet than ever before. I have always had dives here loaded with swim throughs, but not this time.. I have mentioned in previous reviews that there are sand flies. Nasty little things straight from hell... We started bringing cheap cotton "pajama bottom" type pants, treated with permethrin. Not one bite on my legs the whole trip.it looked like some folks got eaten alive from the welts on their legs.. We're going back in August. I hope they take the dirty air situation seriously. It only takes a little bit of salt water to start corrosion in a cylinder. It only takes two dirty air situations to destroy a dive operations reputation.. life support..it's really important.. I look forward to seeing the new buffet area all done.

I didnât stay at the hotel but I did spend the day at the beach there and my man Daniel Smith made sure we always had food and drinks. Friendly staff. Awesome service.
Be ware, you will be incessantly hustled by the locals at the beach trying to sell you sun shirts, bracelets, hair braids and massages. In the 4.5 hours I was there, I had to say no around 100 times, often to the same person(s). Not exaggerating. I felt like a piece of bread at a beach full of hungry seagulls.
Do not get a message. My wife was guilted into it. We eventually paid 45 dollars for the worst message/sexual assault of her life.

Phenomenal Service & World-Class Diving â Can't Wait to Return!
just returned from an incredible stay at the Mayan Princess in Roatan, and we are already planning our future trips back! While the property and location are beautiful, it was the exceptional staff that truly made this vacation unforgettable. Outstanding Service From the moment we arrived, the service was impeccable. A massive thank you to Mario in Guest Relationsâhe was absolutely fantastic and ensured everything went smoothly during our stay. The bar and beach service were also a highlight: âą William at the Calkett (Calkut) Bar is a true pro; he anticipated our drink needs before we even had to ask. âą Jose on the beach was super helpful and attentive, making sure we never had an empty glass while relaxing by the water. Top-Notch Diving If you are a diver, the Mayan Dive Shop is the place to be. It is a top-notch operation. We have to give a special shout-out to our specific boat crew: âą Eddie (Dive Master) âą Isiah (Captain) This duo was phenomenalâprofessional, fun, and skilled. They made every dive safe and enjoyable. We highly recommend the Mayan Princess for both the hospitality and the diving. We will definitely be back!

The room was amazing and the staff was spectacular. Our water heater went out on the last day. The staff came, discovered the problem and replaced the water heater all within an hour. When we finished our 10 gallon jug of water they replaced it immediately. Drinks were perfect and they remembered our preferences at every bar. It could not have been better! See you next year!!
The beach very clear, swimmable, and very little Sargassum for this time of year. The Deluxe One Bedroom Studio was very small. The A La Carte restaurant was closed over the weekend for some events had no other choice but the buffet. The buffet food was decent, but the can add more variety like fruits during dinner buffet.
Our flights was cancelled and we attempted to contract the property which was a nightmare. Wrong email and phone number were listed through Expedia as well as on their website. I finally called Expedia and was provided a way to message the propertyâŠNo response. I called Expedia again and was given a different email and they responded two days later at which time we had to book another trip together. The hotel refused to accept any type of responsibility for having updated contact info or for their late response. NO REFUND WHATSOEVER. I am working to dispute this through my credit card company but I will never book this hotel line again. Lousy customer service.
We love Roatan
Our stay at the Mayan Princess was amazing. We have been all around the Caribbean & Mexico and this is a go to for snorkeling, accommodation, food quality and service. Very safe as the beach is patrolled by security. Thumbs up to Oscar, Brian and David. Bar staff make sure you are well âhydratedâ. Thumbs up to William, Kevin & Ashley. Server Marrarie greets you with a big smile. All the staff are excellent and you can tell that they are appreciative of your stay. Very quiet and if you want night life go to West end. Water taxiâs are inexpensive and we had a taxi guy that took us on a guided snorkel that was incredible. I apologize to the staff whose names I canât recall. We loved Roatanâs peaceful, calm beach. Cruise guest hit the beach a couple times a week but not a issue.
Direct beach access, staff was great, bar had good select of beverage options. One downside, the Expedia advertisement of all-inclusive at the Mayan Princess resort was not accurate. All inclusive should be all-inclusive like any other resort offering all-inclusive. We arrived at the resort under the all-inclusive assumption, and were informed that we had a breakfast only package. The added top up for lunches, dinners and beverages for two was close to $1000 US extra, not a welcome surprise. For the future, Expediaâs advertisement for the Mayan Princess in Roatan needs to inform customers more explicitly that all-inclusive has different cost tiers, so they are aware up front of what they are paying for and not be surprised getting the sun vacation off to an unpleasant start.
