🚨 BEWARE — DISHONEST & UNPROFESSIONAL MOVERS
If I could give this company below zero stars, I would. I’ve already filed a theft report with the sheriff’s office and notified the Better Business Bureau.
I was referred to Marlon Movers by an ex–male acquaintance from a local clique that used to hang out during COVID at a Sterling/Ashburn venue. He also happens to run a small, sketchy used-car dealership, which in hindsight makes sense — the entire operation felt questionable from the start.
The movers themselves appeared unlicensed and possibly working off the books, and the entire experience reeked of corner-cutting and chaos. I hired them last-minute during the pandemic for a three-day move and bought all my own packing supplies from Costco, only to discover what a mistake that was.
1. Overcharging: They changed the quote after seeing my 2-bedroom condo, charged nearly $1,600, and never even packed the kitchen — I had to return later to finish myself.
2. Dishonesty with materials: They boxed up the supplies I bought so they could use their own and bill me extra.
3. Slow and manipulative: A four-hour job took nearly eight with endless excuses to justify the cost.
4. Disorganized: I gave them Sharpies to label boxes — they ignored instructions and packed the markers, creating chaos.
5. Missing valuables: Several labeled boxes never arrived at my new home — I believe they were taken.
6. Disrespectful behavior: They were dismissive and unprofessional, taking advantage of my courtesy.
7. No accountability: Despite paying in full, the owner ignored my calls and later posted false statements online.
I’ve since reported the theft to authorities and filed with the BBB. This entire experience left me feeling deceived and violated. Avoid this company at all costs. The operation feels unlicensed, unregulated, and deeply unethical.
🚨The owner has never attempted to resolve the matter, and brushed it off, hoping I will disappear. . Ive always kept a respectful demeanor always.
His response on Yelp, is fabricated and completely false. I may not recover my personal belongings, nor he has made any attempts, but would like to bring awareness to everyone in LC of their business practices.***
I have repeatedly been in contact with you in this regard in an outmost level of respect! This frankly is more than a review and an unfortunate direct attack on a group of people based on their race!!!
We have been in contact with you and I have repeatedly conveyed our stand on your issue and that is: we do not consider your claim valid as the services where rendered over 15 months ago to your satisfaction and complete payment and now after nearly 2 years you have raised your concerns.
But I wish this was all that the above review was about.
Your description of people and their ethnicity shows a flagrant disregard for what our community as a whole stand for. By using race or ethnicity as a reason for your perception you have violated many norms and standards of the community we’re living and working at and that language should not be tolerated. I will make sure the appropriate course of actions is taken in that regard.
You are entitled to your opinion and can give a very good or a very bad review!!! That is okay!
However, you can not use race and ethnicity to come to a conclusion.

10/10 customer service, communication, and professionalism. Willing to be flexible when I requested a side trip to drop off with my sister ahead of time, and worked full strength all day up three flights at one place to up three flights each trip for the next. Swapped out staff when needed. Rafael was on site supervising but very willing to jump in himself when we ended up having more than expected to move, and the whole crew was respectful and careful with everything throughout the whole process. When a storm came through, Marlon emailed me personally to keep me updated on the pause for safety.
Will likely use them again soon for moving from one apartment garage to another!

I hired Marlon Moving to move me from a storage unit into an apartment on the fourth floor, sixty stair steps to the front door. The guys were absolutely amazing. I have never seen anyone move everything the way they did. They asked where I wanted things put and was very gentle with everything. The assembled my china cabinet and dining table, put my furniture exactly where I needed it to be, and stacked and staged my boxes so it would be easy for me to unpack. They completed the job in record time and when finished, Marlon checked in with me to make sure I was satisfied with everything and that I did not need anything else to be done.
I am so satisfied with Marlon Moving that I hired them again to move from the fourth floor to the first floor. They came and they were just as amazing as the first time with everything.
Sadly the first floor apartment that I moved to had issues and I had to move two months later. Yes you guessed correctly, I called Marlon Moving and they came and moved me again. A third time using their services and the guys were just as polite, caring, respectful, and professional as the first two times.
I called Marlon again to ask if he could have a couple of his guys come and help me move a dresser and headboard from the garage to my bedroom. It’s such a small thing for his guys to come for 10 minutes, but it means so much to this 60 year old disabled lady to be able to call and when I need help.
I highly recommend Marlon Moving Services. This company is top notch and you won’t be disappointed.
