I did a few surfskate sessions with Juan and it was a real game changer. My backside and frontside got so much better after just a couple sessions. It honestly leveled up my surfing big time. I took a one-on-one coaching session with Juan this summer in Bali to support not only my surfskate practice but also my surfing, since I had just started learning.
During our lesson, he quickly identified my needs and delivered a truly spot-on class. Even in such a short time, I could already feel its impact on my surfing afterwards.
What I appreciated most was the depth of his attention. For example, before we even started skating, he asked about my warm-up routine. That simple question showed me how seriously he approaches the process—not just the ride itself, but also the preparation and the way you finish.
Another strength was how he tailored his teaching to the way I learn best. Personally, I learn by imitation, so his patient demos were exactly what I needed.
The way he teaches feels safe, calm, and fun at the same time. A balance that makes the whole session truly enjoyable…
After that session, I immediately signed up for his online program. Beginning those lessons made me feel well-prepared for my second surfing season.
The online course is full of detail: the video and audio quality are excellent, and the demos and guidance are clear, precise, and easy to follow.

My best lessons and surfskate training were with Mako - I am very grateful to him for his help! I learned how to do a pump and ride high on the wall, before that I did not understand how to do it for a long time. I was so glad that he was able to explain it to me and I learned it very quickly. It's a pity I did not have time to get more lessons from him, now we are separated by continents, but I hope we will meet again someday))
