Mon mari et moi avons passé un magnifique séjour à makongo hills . Le personnel était à nos petits soins , Mégane la directrice de l'hôtel était adorable , attentionné et présente quand il le fallait .Nous avons très bien mangé, notre chambre merveilleuse avec comme vu , le coucher de soleil, les animaux , et une vue à couper le souffle .Et le plus important quand même ,c'est deux jours de safari inoubliable avec notre guide extra passionné par son métier . Et surtout seul dans cette belle végétation avec évidemment comme ami les girafes, lionnes, éléphants ,et plein d'autres animaux .Nous avons apprécié que ce soit une petite structure au milieu de cette belle nature , avec le confort et la qualité .Merci encore Valérie et Didier

Die Lage der Lodge ist außergewöhnlich und einzigartig, das Personal sehr freundlich, hilfsbereit und kompetent, die Guides haben uns sicher und unterhaltsam auf die Safaritouren mitgenommen, die Auswahl und Qualität der Mahlzeiten waren ausgezeichnet. Wir haben uns sehr wohlgefühlt in einer für uns Großstädter doch ungewohnten Umgebung.
Fantastische locatie met gezellige sfeer
3 dagen mogen genieten bij Makongo Hills. Wat een fantastische plek echt uit een boekje zo mooi. Gezellige sfeer met Megan als gastvrouw en Tim de ranger. Het was zo gezellig en de staff zo vriendelijk. Genoten van de dieren voor onze Lodge en het prachtige uitzicht.

Wat een prachtige plek om te zitten de weg ernaartoe alleen al. De warme verwelkoming , de prachtige kamers , de spectaculaire drives , het heerlijke eten .Het wildlife dat hier gewoon in de tuin loopt , het onvergetelijke uitzicht vanuit het zwembad .En alles hier met een glimlach wat een geweldige service je wilt hier nooit meer weg . Makongo Hills zit in ons hart.
Exceptioneel
Als we meer dan 5 sterren zouden kunnen geven zouden we het zeker doen! Wauw, wat een verblijf. Een klein paradijs op aarde tussen de dieren, het lijkt bijna niet echt. Van ontvangst doorhet personeel tot de safari’s zelf, alles verliep moeiteloos. Onze ranger, Tim, was ook buiten categorie. Zijn kennis en enthousiasme werkt aanstekelijk. Als we terugkomen staat deze plek zeker opnieuw op onze planning!
Nous ne pouvons mettre qu’un 5/5. Tout était parfait : un lodge magnifique, un personnel aux petits soins, des safaris de qualité menés par des guides très professionnels… Cet endroit est un rêve éveillé !

Best experience in South Africa so far!
Everything was perfect! The staff was friendly, the food was delicious, the room was nice and the view and property were wonderfull! Also the game drives were very amazing! Tim was a nice ranger. Also they helped us driving through the park, which was very kind.
My husband and I had the most wonderful experience at Makongo Hills, it truly exceeded all our expectations. The staff were exceptional, striking the perfect balance between attentiveness and giving us space. It felt like they were always there when we needed them, yet so seamless in the background.
Megan and the team went above and beyond to make my birthday so special, and I am deeply grateful for the thoughtfulness they showed throughout our stay. Every detail was perfect, and it made our time there unforgettable.
Makongo Hills is not just a gem in the heart of KZN, but a hub of expansive history, culture and knowledge. We got to learn so much about the beauty that adorns our country and the conservation of it.

Our favourite big5 reserve in KwaZulu Natal
Our family of 4 (including 2 teens) stayed in the Zebra and Leopard rooms for 2 nights. We were really impressed by the Mkuze Valley reserves and Makongo Hills in particular. The view from the lodge is magnificent and the terrain of the reserve beautiful and lush, even in August. Behind every bend there was a new surprise! The staff was extremely professional and warm. The lodge manager Casey, cook Siwa, safari guide Tim and the whole housekeeping were so welcoming. We made a lot of game drives during our tour in South Africa, and Tim is one of our favourite guides: he stole all of our hearts with his upbeat personality, enthusiasm, good sense of humor and in depth knowledge of the bush. There was never a dull moment on the 4 great game drives we were on. Making our way to the lodge with our own 4WD, passing through the other private reserves, we already saw 6 lionesses on & just next to the road. During the game drives we had the luck to encounter a pride of lions, 2 different cheetahs, a rare sighting of a serval cat, several antilopes, giraffes and an elephant from very, VERY closeby. Tim also explained us many things about plants and tracks. We were following white rhinos tracks, but then they crossed the river :-). As the lodge is solar powered, small scale, and it is unfenced so we also had many spontaneous visitors in the morning and during the lunch break: a group of 6 giraffes came to drink and many warthogs came to graze. We loved the layout and view from the rooms and enjoyed the healthy lunch on the deck next to the pool. And the bbq dinner made by cook Siwa, with a full moon and next to the camp fire. The sundowner drinks and the bush breakfast with view on the hippos and nyalas were really awesome. Memories for a lifetime!!! We fully recommend this place and would go back here without a doubt. We already miss it and everybody :-) We also saw and we keep following the efforts of Makongo Hills in wildlife conservation and have deep respect for this approach. Top team!

We had an amazing deep bush experience including highfeld Savanah’s and big five in the comfort of a cozy lodge with all the comfort, great food and service South African hospitality is capable of delivering. This vibrant, abundant and carefully balanced ecosystem is infinite as every turn of a corner guided by experienced rangers provides a uniquely fun and educational experience for the inquisitive mind. Greater mkhuze wilderness wonder
This place seems to be at the end of a winding road which never ends but when you finally arrive you never want to leave. We spent 10 days with a large group and all were blown away. Casey and the Stagg headed by a megan see to tour every need. Ranger Sandile and Trevor are amazing as is Tim. You can visit the Crack K9 dog team used for anti poaching as well. Sense of place is extraordinary
Schöne Lodge mit nettem Personal
Schöne Lodge auf einem Hügel gelegen. Die Lodge ist ohne Zaun, so dass die Tiere bis an die Lodge kommen. Es sind zwei Game drives eingeschlossen. Frühstück gibt es nach dem Morgen Game Drive oder während des Game Drive. Auch der Sundowner fehlt natürlich nicht während des Abend Game Drive. Abendessen gibt es in der Boma am Lagerfeuer. Es ist alles prima, mann sollte aber keine Luxus Lodge erwarten.
The best holiday ever
The best experience we had on real vacation was otherworldly, the hotel, the service, the food, everything was perfect, to be the first time in Africa was the option, recommended 100%, hoping to come back as soon as possible. We came back in love with Makongo.

The accommodation itself was stunning, perfectly blending comfort with a true connection to nature. The lodge’s location was amazing—right in the heart of the wilderness, with wildlife coming right up to the property. The food was outstanding. Cannot wait to return!
We had the pleasure of spending 2 nights at Makongo Hills and it was simply not enough! We loved the intimate nature and feel of the beautiful property and the ambiance provided by staff. Waking up to a herd of wildebeests directly outside our patio was incredible! The weather didn't cooperate while we were there, so we can't wait to visit again and hopefully have better luck.
