Magnus Karate has been an awesome experience for my son. After the first trial sessions my 4 year old was hooked and was mad at didn’t have a “costume” like all of the other kids, I let him know he wasn’t signed up yet and wanted to make sure he liked it, he said “Dad, sign me up”. He now has his gi and has loved every second of it. The discipline Sensei instills in the kids is unmatched. Keep up the great work!
Sensei Mike is an amazing teacher! His hard work, dedication and commitment to his students is outstanding. We recently moved to the area and came from another school. My son has been learning so much from Sensei and the other students. Everyone has been so positive, patient and supportive. My son is thriving at Magnus Karate. We are so grateful! I don't even know where to begin praising Magnus and Sensei Mike Pannulla. The culture he has created at this dojo is truly one of the best things in my son's life. My son has been studying karate at Magnus for the last ~5 years, is now a 1st-degree black belt, and still loves going to karate twice a week. It's not tough to see why. Sensei Pannulla is the polar opposite of the stereotypical tough-guy sensei you think of from the Cobra Kai dojo in the original Karate Kid movies (but if you've ever seen his demonstrations, you know he is *not* someone you would want to mess with!) He highlights positive attitude and quality effort and encourages kids that way, instead of berating or shaming. He is the kind of teacher that any parent would want for their child. He creates other special opportunities outside of routine classes -- e.g. Harry Potter nights, Star Wars nights, bring-a-friend nights, and so on -- complete with nerf battles (w/safety glasses, of course!), movies, and pizza. It's not just about learning karate here; it's about community too, and recognizing that kids need both fun and a routine for steady practice/discipline.
Our youngest son has been going for 2 years now. He really loves it there. We’ve been impressed by Sensei Mike from day one. He treats all of his students with such respect, and is a master motivator for them. He has every detail planned out and prepped. The kids are constantly working and learning there. He also really empowers his older students to teach and mentor the younger students. It’s really an impressive place. Can’t say enough good things about Sensei Mike and Magnus Karate!
Great experience for our son and us as a family. Mike and the other leaders at the dojo are great with the kids. They bring a positive environment that teaches the kids more than we expected. We switched over here from another dojo and Mike made it a smooth and easy process. Highly recommend if you’re looking for your child to build confidence, have fun, and grow!

Magnus Karate is the best! My 9 year old has had such a positive experience there over the last several years. The environment is motivating and challenging, and the teaching team has high expectations for all students. At the same time, learning is scaffolded and students of all abilities and levels are supported throughout the classes as needed and as appropriate. My kiddo frequently needs extra guidance, but is never singled out for making a mistake or needing more work on a particular move. Sensei Pannula is an exceptional teacher and my kiddo has gained so much from practicing at Magnus Karate!
