I scheduled a routine service/maintenance visit for my Navien water heater, which was installed in 2021 when the building was constructed.
During the visit, the technician did not run any diagnostic tests (no combustion analysis, no gas detector test, no CO measurements, no documentation). Instead, he stated that he “smelled gas,” said the heat exchanger was cracked, and immediately recommended full replacement of the unit ASAP.
No evidence, measurements, or test results were provided to support these claims. The gas was not shut off, the unit was not red-tagged, and no manufacturer (Navien) diagnostics or warranty process was initiated. The recommendation appeared to be based solely on visual inspection and smell, rather than proper testing.
After consulting additional sources and learning what proper diagnostics should include, it was clear that the conclusions presented were unsupported and felt like fear-based selling rather than an evidence-based service call and nothing is wrong with my Navien water heater.
I would strongly recommend not using this company and if you do use this company for service ask for documented test results before agreeing to any major repair or replacement.

Maffei service was professional and timely. Very upfront about service and pricing. Polite and respectful. They understood I had to be working while they were in my home.

Tub drain leaking, called Maffei, they said they will be out the next between 12-4, tech arrived around 1. Tech looked at situation, and started to work, another tech came to assist, very professional and knowledgeable
Work was done in a few hrs
Will use Maffei again

The quality of the service was excellent the two men who came out to my home were very polite very respectful and very thorough. The only thing that stopped me was the price in this case I'm afraid it was too high for me so I am going to a different vendor for my need only because it's not within their purview anyway it's a drain snake which is not what they do as a specialty so no offense taken and no offense meant
Ryan & office staff very personable & professional. All questions answers.
For this call (no repair needed)we had Joey. Again very polite and through. He also went above & beyond when he notice a propane leak. Our propane company capped & shut off the leak.
