As opposed to responding, looks like LFF had my review taken down. So here’s a polite and AI scrubbed version so as not to offend. I came here specifically for Sambo while living in London and paid for a month up front. I’ve trained for many years across multiple striking and grappling styles, so I expected at least a basic conversation about experience before being directed into classes. That never happened. In the intro session, the coach didn’t ask a single question about my background, and the tone throughout felt closed-off and dismissive. When I later spoke with Luiz about attending Sambo, the interaction followed the same pattern: bad assumptions made first, questions asked later (if at all). Instead of simply evaluating my experience, the conversation became more about discouraging me from participating. It was surprising, especially for a gym that advertises itself as welcoming to all levels. I also want to highlight the overall environment. The atmosphere felt extremely rigid, and the way policies were enforced came across as more aggressive than necessary. Rather than creating a structured training space, it created a sense that the gym operates from a place of aggressive defensiveness. Watching classes confirmed the pattern: technically OK instruction, but a culture that felt more focused on asserting authority than developing students. I ultimately chose not to return, even though I had already paid. The training itself might be adequate for someone who prefers a very controlled, top-down environment, but for anyone with prior experience (or anyone who values open communication from coaches) it’s worth knowing this dynamic before you sign up. Hey, L— Hope this one didn’t hurt your feelings.

Similar to other people's reviews, the attitude of the head coach (Gi) is terrible. He enjoys yelling, berating and humiliating people - the exact opposite vibe that you'd want from a coach. Talked with others at gyms across London and they had similar experiences. There's also a competition focus on this gym, which is fine, but this is even in more beginner classes which results in spazzy rolls and higher risk of injury. Finally, a 6 month minimum contract is just a predatory practice. Overall, I'd advise anyone to look elsewhere for BJJ - there's so many great clubs across London, you can really do much better.

Bad coach experience I attended a trial session a few months ago and was considering signing up for wrestling, which I found to be a great class. However, my experience with coach Luiz “Manxinha” Ribeiro completely changed my mind. When I was trying to find my other sandal — since there were so many scattered around — Luiz told me not to walk barefoot, but the way he said it came across as rude and aggressive. He could have handled it much more politely. It seems that some Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu coaches, including Luiz, let their black belt status go to their heads and forget the importance of respect and professionalism. I’ve also noticed the way he speaks to students during training — some of his comments and jokes are simply inappropriate in a professional setting. Because of this experience, I decided not to continue with this club. I’ve since found a much more respectful and welcoming place to train. I also noticed other reviews mentioning similar issues with Luiz, which only confirmed my experience. Screw these aggressive Jiu-Jitsu coaches — I’d rather train somewhere that values respect as much as skill.

I've been training Muay Thai at LFF since January 2025, and to be honest, I’m extremely happy with my development. The coaches have an incredible approach and didactic style, and the overall vibe of the gym is consistently motivating. What really sets LFF apart is the environment: you’re often training alongside athletes of different levels, which pushes you to improve and stay focused. The coaches themselves are highly experienced, many of them having real competition backgrounds, so every session feels purposeful and technically solid. The gym also frequently hosts important figures from the combat sports world for seminars and special sessions, which adds even more value and variety to the training. I would recommend it 100%.

Ive been training at this gym for around 3 years and its been one of the best decisions I’ve ever made, the staff are really nice and funny, the people are very welcoming and friendly while the coaches are very experienced and understanding. Training at this gym has made me not only improve as a fighter but as a person too. The jiu jitsu classes are run by the best jiu jitsu practitioner's and sometimes even by world champions, the head coach is very nice and definitely knows his stuff when it comes to jiu jitsu this club provides high quality sessions. The boxing classes are my favourite, not only because i love the martial art of boxing but because the coach is like no other, he is everything you could ask for when it comes to a coach. Silviu (boxing coach) is probably the best boxing coach in the world and i mean it genuinely his knowledge of the aport is like no other. He is funny and also knows when to be serious. He helped me go from a fat kid who only wanted to punch hard to someone who understands the art of boxing and the science behind it. He has helped me win several national titles with his guidance. I couldnt reccomend a better gym.

There are good aspects of this gym, including capable instructors. However, I found the owner rude, the timetable confusing, and the vibe off. I'm not coming back
Reply from London Fight Factory 2025.10.30
Hi Joe,

We remember your visit clearly, so let’s put a few things in context.

On your first day, you attended a No-Gi class and immediately mentioned wanting to compete under the London Fight Factory name. I explained that before anyone represents the gym in competition, we like to train together for a while and get to know each other — that’s standard practice everywhere in martial arts.

Your second visit was to a lunchtime Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (Gi) session. You arrived without a Gi, thinking it was a No-Gi class. I clarified that “Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu” always means with Gi — while “No-Gi” is listed separately on our timetable. You replied by calling me “pal” and saying you were “just trying to help out my business” because you found the terms confusing — even though every gym in the world uses the same naming convention.

Despite that, I still lent you a fresh, clean Gi so you could join the session and train. You finished the class, threw the Gi on the floor, and left without a word of thanks.

Respect is one of the foundations of Jiu-Jitsu and martial arts — and it goes both ways. Our gym welcomes everyone, but we expect the same courtesy and humility in return.

Finally, regarding your comment about me being “rude”: I also manage admin and emails between classes, and if I don’t stop mid-task the moment someone walks in, it’s because I’m keeping the gym running smoothly for all our students.

We wish you the best in finding a gym that matches your attitude and expectations.

I personally found London Fight Factory a very welcoming gym. I feel like the professor and nominated students are keen to help you understand and refine any movement being taught. It was my first class and I understand some things I got right away and others I needed some more tutelage. However, I feel everyone understood this and assisted with my learning. I look forward to continuing my BJJ journey with London Fight Factory

It’s my second time training at London Fight Factory, and I couldn’t be happier. The atmosphere here is excellent — very friendly and motivating. The BJJ coach has a great teaching style that makes every class technical and enjoyable. I’ve also met amazing teammates who make every training session even better. Highly recommend this place to anyone serious about improving their Jiu-Jitsu!

I’ve trained here for a bit and I was treated by everyone extremely well that’s until I started attending the main BJJ coach’s class and realised he has a sarcastic idiotic attitude towards people especially new people I thought maybe it was just me maybe he just doesn’t like me and that’s fine till I started meeting his previous students in other BJJ gyms all saying pretty much the same thing. Worse even other black belts saying yeah that’s just how he is.. overall all the other coaches are great and gym is well maintained but due to my personal experience I do not recommend 👍

Hi Felipe,
We’re sorry to hear your experience didn’t match your expectations. However, your comments don’t reflect the culture or coaching standards of our gym. Our head coach is a respected professional known for his technical expertise, structured instruction, and commitment to helping every student improve.
His direct teaching style is designed to bring out the best in students — not to offend — and the majority of our members appreciate and thrive under that approach. We understand that not every coaching style fits everyone, but it’s inaccurate to suggest that your experience represents our community as a whole.
We stand by the professionalism, respect, and positive environment that define our gym.

Great contact sports club. I train boxing with Silviu, an excellent coach who blends hard work and technique with clear explanations of both the moves and the mindset required in boxing.

Had a mostly negative experience training at LFF last year. I was attracted to it because they offered both Muay Thai and BJJ classes back to back and I wanted to train in both arts. The Muay Thai class would finish on the hour and the BJJ class would begin immediately after, but you would need 5 minutes to go into the changing rooms and get changed into your gi for the BJJ. This lead to me being a few minutes late and having to wait at the side of the class until the coach would look at me - at which I had to apologetically ask for permission to join the mat, where I was begrudgingly invited to join the class. After a few of these episodes I simply felt humiliated by this and didn’t want to come anymore, at the end of the day I’m paying good money for the membership and want to use as many of the classes as possible, being made to feel guilty shouldn’t be part of the arrangement, but unfortunately had to remain tied in to a 6 month contract.

London Fight Factory: My Honest Review I spent six months training Muay Thai at London Fight Factory and just finished a month of No-Gi and MMA. This place is seriously legit. The Muay Thai coaches (Anton and China) are top-notch. They don’t just show you moves; they actually teach you how to get powerful strikes and solid form. The classes are challenging but everyone is super welcoming, which made it easy to learn and get better fast. I got way more confident in my skills and my fitness improved a ton. After that, I jumped into No-Gi and MMA. The transition was smooth. The grappling coaches (Philip “the flip” and Larry ) are amazing—they break everything down so you can actually understand it. The MMA classes tie everything together perfectly. You get to use your striking and grappling in real scenarios. It’s tough, but it's the kind of training that makes you feel strong and capable, as well as the coach Jeremy, bringing in a great ambience to the classes, and very patience to help you develop your skills. This gym is more than just a place to work out; it's a real community. Everyone pushes each other to improve. If you're looking for a serious but friendly gym to learn martial arts, London Fight Factory is a no-brainer. I highly recommend it.
