Beautiful, went down for a walk down the canal. River Dare is absolutely outrageous.
Lovely train ride through the countryside. Nowhere to eat at the other end so take a picnic or eat before you board the train.
Fantastic railway that has beautiful scenery along the whole 10 mile route.
The locos are always immaculate and the whole railway is very well presented, preserving a slice of history.
I’ve been visited llangollen railway since the 80’s when it was just starting up and the train just ran to the station by the chain bridge hotel. They have created another wonder of wales with the hard work they have done and also getting through the pandemic when everything stopped and no money being generated at the time. Always find friendly helpful, knowledgeable staff, the rolling stock is always up and beyond quality you would expect. All members of the family will enjoy a day in the railway and take yourself back in time.
For the railway enthusiast, thus is a must. A good range of engines including steam and diesel. The 5 stations along the line are all worth a visit, especially Corwen which has recently been fully refurbished.
Visited over Christmas to ride the Mince Pie Special! Lovely railway staffed by enthusiastic, helpful volunteers, the Train driver had time to chat and was very informative. About a 2 hour round trip to Corwen, we went on a Sunday when most of Corwen is closed (get about half an hour during the turnaround). Ticket included a Mince Pie and Mulled Wine, excellent on a cold day. Definitely will visit again. In the summer 🌞
I booked the mincepie special for 5 of us aged between 17 + 56. It was a two hour round trip from Llangollen to Corwen. Upon arrival we were given some mulled wine and a mince pie. The younger ones a soft drink and chocolate. It was busy but well organised and like us everyone seemed to be in awe of the beautiful steam train. Seating is not allocated but we were able to all sit together and enjoy the vintage carriage and the beautiful Welsh countryside. We all thoroughly enjoyed it and going from Llangollen was perfect as we took a little walk after then enjoyed some delicious food and drink afterwards. A perfect day!
I would definately book another trip.
