We're coming up on our one year anniversary of moving to our new home in Ottawa from BC. Peter helped us find our new home. During our initial meetings he makes you feel very welcomed and like he has all these systems in place, but as you continue it seems like his schedule is stretched too thin and stuff starts to fall through the cracks. He is great on the phone and was prompt with virtual showings. During the purchase process our offer was expiring and we couldn't get a hold of him. Luckily the seller didn't have a backup and we were able to secure our new home. He did end up helping with some deficiencies that were found during the final walkthrough, which was nice, but it was a hassle to get there with a horrible seller and selling realtor. So was it a stellar 5-star experience, nah. Have we ever met in person, no. Not that we had to, but it's a little odd to have clients moving across the country and not pop in during move-in day to say hey. I was hoping we found a stellar realtor for a future home sale, but ultimately we'll be looking for someone else.
Response: I like how the response glazes over the fact that you missed an offer deadline while you were off on your second vacation and then over exaggerated other stuff. Yes thank you for being willing to receive a package that the internet provider we signed up with sent too early. And also saying no thank you when the seller offered to sell us a piece of furniture. Everything else seems like standard jobs for a realtor. Gotta earn that commission somehow. It’s tough to say if your lawyer recommendation would have gotten a hold back, but they were also double the price, which would have been more than the hold back. We’ll never know I guess. We talked many times after your pop in while you happened to be in the neighbourhood. I'll take it that the thank you gift was the form letter/card that we received in the mail a couple of weeks later. Just a shame.

I remember how unique your situation was—relocating across the country without visiting during the search period, navigating a competitive market, and coordinating everything virtually. I aimed to provide as much clarity and structure as possible, including thorough video walkthroughs, process explanations, renovation suggestions, referrals to trusted contractors and vendors, and support through the inspection and negotiations. I also assisted with coordinating furniture purchases from the seller, receiving FedEx packages on your behalf, and providing guidance on local utility setup.
While I recommended a lawyer I’ve worked with and trust—particularly to ensure a proper holdback during the final walkthrough—you chose to work with a different legal representative. I flagged the walk through concerns early and followed up several times in hopes of avoiding last-minute closing issues. Despite the added complexity from the sellers and selling team, I’m glad I was able to help resolve the identified issues and even contribute financially to the repair costs after closing.
I also dropped by your home shortly after closing to leave a small welcome gift and welcome you to Ottawa. Though you and Melissa weren’t home at the time, I met your daughters (who were busy unpacking) and asked them to pass along my regards.
As I didn’t hear back after that visit—paired with the challenges near closing—I assumed you preferred to move forward without an ongoing relationship, which I fully respect.
While I regret that it didn’t feel like a 5-star fit for you, I’m still proud of the care, diligence, and advocacy I provided throughout the process. I always aim to be thorough, honest, and solutions-focused—and I take every experience as a chance to learn and improve.
