Le Coucou is a French fine-dining standout that feels elegant and special from the moment you walk in. The atmosphere is chic and romantic — perfect for a date night or celebration — with a beautiful interior and attentive service. The menu leans classic French with dishes like pike quenelles, sweetbreads, and perfectly cooked lamb, all executed with skill and confidence.
It’s definitely on the pricier side, but if you’re in the mood for a memorable meal with refined flavors and an upscale vibe, it delivers. Some people find the food a bit overrated for the price, but overall the experience — from the thoughtful wine pairings to the polished presentation — makes it worth trying at least once.

Today We had a lunch at the restaurant and i was very disappointed with the food . I love French cuisine and French restaurants are my favorite places to go, but this place was very big mistake to go. First appetizer We order Beef tartar ( looked great ) but the tase was super wired and salty , plain , no taste just salt and fake caviar on the top.
The Chef need to visit France and try real beef Tarta
Second appetizer was Glazed eggplant, this was great ,
The main course we order beef steak and Bass fish.
(Fish was like a soup with two tinny like a string beans pieces of fish also 3 mussels and one little reddish split on two) no taste, nothing to eat , plus fish was under cooked, i thought i will not make at home as my stomach was upset after eating the fish. Now about the beef steak ( stake had no taste at all just sweet /source Sause on the top , ) , French fries was burned it was impossible to eat because it was so bitter) ,
after bad experience with appetizer and main dish we were afraid to order dessert . so cannot say anything about that.
Lunch was spoiled.
Also 2 appetizers and two kids size main course ,will cost you 350$ . This place way overpriced for the food they serve. There much better placed in the city you can go and enjoy real French food . i Will definitely not recommend to any one this place, Very disappointed with the food

Food taste excellence, nice decoration. Perhaps the introduction of each dish was kind of short and not much story.

Went there for the 2 set lunch menu. It was delicious and the place was so cozy and pretty. We also ordered Baba au rhum and it was great as well

Located in SoHo, Le Coucou carries significant prestige and social media hype, bolstered by its Michelin-star status. Expectations were naturally high. Unfortunately, the overall experience did not align with that reputation.
🦴 The Os à Moelle (Roasted Bone Marrow) felt overwhelmingly rich and greasy, with the fat overpowering any nuanced flavor. After a few bites, it became difficult to continue.
🐟 The Quenelle de brochet, sauce américaine (Pike Quenelle with American/Lobster Sauce 🐟🦞) was the most memorable dish of the evening — though not in a positive way. The texture was extremely soft and mousse-like, and the combined intensity of the fish purée and shellfish-based sauce resulted in a pronounced seafood aroma. For diners unaccustomed to traditional French quenelle preparations, the flavor profile can feel quite heavy and overly fish-forward.
Overall, nearly every course fell short of expectations, creating a noticeable gap between the restaurant’s acclaim and the actual execution.
While the service staff were polite and professional, the pacing of the meal was considerably slow ⏳, which further affected the overall dining experience.
Considering the pricing and reputation, I personally would not return nor recommend it to friends.

The fish was phenomenal. Definitely get the steak with bone marrow too. The duck was very good. We shared everything between two so the photos we took are half portions of the original dish.

Service was magnifique! Tasting menu is delicious, we came for lunch and got some cocktails too. We hope to come back and try the dinner menu. A beautifully decorated restaurant, not stuffy and felt really cozy inside!

From the moment I walked in the staff was nothing short of AMAZING. our waiter PAULO was the best waiter I've ever had. He was extremely knowledgeable, friendly and just a lovely person. Place is a bit pricey for the amount of food you get. But the presentation of the food, the staff and the ambiance balances out the bill

Treated ourselves to dinner at Le Coucou in SoHo, and it felt like a little escape to elegant French dining right in NYC. The space is stunning—think soaring ceilings, soft candlelight, whitewashed brick, chandeliers, and that romantic, timeless vibe that makes everything feel special and intimate without being overly stuffy. Perfect for a date night or celebration.
Service was excellent: attentive, knowledgeable, and warm. Our server guided us through the menu with genuine enthusiasm, timed courses perfectly, and handled everything with polish.
The food is classic French elevated by Chef Daniel Rose—rich, saucy, and technique-driven. We loved the poireaux vinaigrette (those leeks with hazelnuts were perfectly tender and bright) and the quenelle de brochet in lobster sauce (light yet luxurious, a real highlight). The sole meunière was buttery and spot-on, but some richer dishes (like the heavier sauces and portions) felt a touch overwhelming by the end—beautifully executed but not all mind-blowing for the price point. Desserts were lovely, especially anything with fruit or crème brûlée.
It's pricey (as expected for a Michelin-starred spot), but the atmosphere and service make it worth it for a special occasion. Great people-watching too. Would return for the ambiance alone!

I don’t know who is the Michelin testing guy who gave them 1 star but trust me he was wrong… not tryin to be mean but the reality is that it was not good….

The restaurant is beautiful but the food is overrated.
It is very pricey for the quantity.
I might be old school but my husband was handed the menu first.
We took the 2 courses menu - We got a small amount of fish for a big amount of sauce - and chose to get the cheese plate as we didn’t feel full.
The pears in the dessert were too firm and the chocolate cake didn’t taste home made.
Very disappointed about the experience overall.
