I cannot recommend Lancaster Cottage more highly. If you are in need of a true, restful break, and the feeling of stepping back in time where life had a slower place - this is the cottage for you. The secret garden is a true highlight for soaking in the English countryside and letting time pass you by...
A magical little hideaway. The cottage was beautiful and had everything we needed for a very comfortable stay. The outside spaces were stunning, packed with flowers which sat alongside the the gorgeous Derbyshire landscape. Katie was great at communicating and was very proactive in anticipating our needs. We actually didn't stray far, because the local area provided beautiful walks from our doorstep, and the village shop provided all the goodies we needed for our 4 night stay. We would definitely book again if we were in the area. thank you Katie.
Lancaster Cottage was the perfect hideaway for our bank holiday weekend getaway. Pleasingly cool inside the stone cottage (those 300 year old walls definitely kept out the heatwave!) with all the amenities you could need inside. The bed was super comfortable too. The real standout is the garden which was in full bloom for our stay - as was seemingly every garden in this beautiful village! We spent some wonderful afternoons reading in the peaceful secret garden whilst the dog sunbathed outside. And in the evenings when it was cooler, there were plenty of lovely walks from the doorstep. We really loved Winster as a walkable village with lots of life - special mention to the Miner's Standard pub and also the food at the Red Lion in Birchover. Thank you Katie for being a wonderfully friendly and responsive host. I'm sure we'll be back here soon!

Thank you so much Katie - that is a FAB review! The cottage is wonderfully cool on these hot days isn't it! Glad you enjoyed the garden at its best too. Look forward to hosting you again! x
Such a beautiful cottage in a really quaint village. The secret garden was perfect for evening drinks and morning coffee. We just had a 1 night stay but would definitely come back when we’re in the area.
Instructions to get there were super clear, house was spotless and amenities were great.
Thanks for the lovely stay
We had such a wonderful relaxing stay in Katie's cosy cottage. We had everything we needed for our break and we loved how quaint the cottage was. We enjoyed snuggling up by the fire, as did our dog after exploring the beautiful area. We also enjoyed the little walk to the garden which was abundant with flowers. The bed was really comfy too! This cottage is a gem and we will definitely return if we're in the area again. Thank you so much for such a lovely stay.

So pleased you managed to make the most of the garden - it's such a tranquil spot isn't it! Thank you so much for your review and look forward to hosting you again in the future - as you can imagine, it is lovely all year round. x
We had a lovely stay at Lancaster Cottage. It was perfect for a little get away, in the heart of the Peak District with it's beautiful scenery and tranquility. The cottage was gorgeous, and had everything we needed, as well as a beautiful garden to soak up the sunshine. Katie was a wonderful host and kept us up to date with information both before and during our stay. Katie also recommended many local things to try, such as the pub Miners Standard, which served delicious food.We look forward to coming back!
Lancaster Cottage was a lovely place to stay, cosy with much attention to detail and with the bonus of a quiet and private garden space. Lots of options for walks from the cottage, with Clough Woods in particular very special in April with a mass of bluebells. Katie was very proactive with lots of helpful recommendations - would definitely stay again.
An idyllic cottage in a lovely historic village which offers peace and tranquility. Slept like a baby in pitch darkness and a very comfortable bed.
Easy access to Bakewell & Matlock and some nice pubs & dining within walking distance.
Katie communicated brilliantly throughout and the cottage manual was full of information from walks, to pubs/food and local history and sites of interest.
It was home from home, very chilled and relaxing.
Highly recommended.

we stayed in Katie's charming, cosy cottage for 4 nights with our dog, and it was the perfect break with wonderful walks nearby and every little detail in the cottage seen to by Katie, who was the perfect host. would highly recommend it as a country retreat in the peace and quiet of gorgeous Derbyshire
