A life-changing first plant medicine experience, I couldn’t have chosen better.
This was my first time ever doing plant medicine, and I spent almost a year researching where to go. I read about and compared centers across Colombia, Peru and Costa Rica, and asked so many questions. In the end, a dear friend who has been to La Ceiba 9 times over the past four years recommended it, and now I completely understand why she keeps coming back. It did not disappoint.
It was a life-changing experience in so many ways, and it starts with the people. From the moment I arrived, I felt like part of a family. The facilitators are amazing, so present, warm and attentive, and the place itself is beautiful. The music during ceremonies was absolutely breathtaking. It carried me through the nights in ways I can’t fully put into words.
As a first-timer, and as a woman traveling solo, what mattered most to me was feeling safe, and I felt safe the entire time. I felt seen, held, and genuinely well taken care of, every step of the way. Whatever came up in ceremony, I always knew I was in good hands.
I would return without hesitation. Honestly, if nothing else, just to hang out with these beautiful people again. Thank you, La Ceiba, from the bottom of my heart. 🌿

The beat place on earth for healing
La Ceiba has genuinely helped me in ways that are hard to put into words. Living with PTSD, I’ve spent a long time feeling like my mind and body were always switched on—always alert, always waiting for something to happen. My experience here helped me understand what it actually feels like to slow down, be present, and relax without feeling like I constantly need to be on guard. That may sound simple to some people, but for someone dealing with PTSD, it can be a huge thing. I’ve learned more about myself, how to quiet my mind, and how to let go of some of the tension I’ve carried for years. I’m still a work in progress, but I can genuinely say this experience has had a positive impact on my life and given me tools and perspective that I’ll carry with me. If you’re looking for the best ayahuasca retreat, I can’t recommend La Ceiba enough. After visiting three different retreats in Colombia, this one stands out. From the moment I arrived I felt a warm, powerful energy—from the staff to the other guests—that made the whole place feel safe and held. It’s all about teamwork in this space, not one person is more important than the other and the staff works together in harmony to create the magical space that La Ceiba is 🫶🏽 Splurging on a private room (about $300 extra) was a total game-changer for me. Having a quiet space to rest, reflect, and integrate made a big difference. The food deserves its own shoutout: the chefs serve fresh, comforting meals that I still think about. Seriously delicious. Dr. Catalina is wonderful—she checked in on my vitals and genuinely cared about how I was doing every day. Talking with her felt reassuring and kind. Keenan is an incredible guide. Calm, wise, and deeply present, he offered just the right words and direction when I needed them most. I trusted him completely. La Ceiba has become my annual ritual for healing and growth. If you’re ready for a supportive, beautiful setting for your journey, this is the place. I hope our paths cross there someday. 🌟💚
