In Conroe definitely go by Vernon's Kuntry Katfish to get the best fried Katfish. Their waitresses are always friendly and helpful with recommendations.

If you are hungry for good ol' Texas home cookin',this is the place for you! From the extensive menu offering not only seafood plates but, multiple beef, pork and foul options. The portions are generous and the food is delicious. Lastly, the hostess and waitresses are always friendly and very attentive to my guests and me. Give them a try! You'll be glad you did.😁

This well known casual seafood restaurant in the Conroe area is where I had lunch a week ago. I've been before but it's been several years ago. I remembered a good visit so that's why I returned.
Vernon's has its own parking lot and is a table service restaurant specializing in catfish among other seafood items. I ordered a small order of fried catfish with hush puppies for $17. Two sides come with the meal and I chose mashed potatoes and fried okra.
First to arrive was a large amount of fried hushpuppies to nosh on and they were enjoyed. Within 10 minutes later the meal was delivered. 4 pieces of fried catfish fillets, a bowl of mashed potatoes with gravy and a decent sized serving of fried okra. It was a lot of food!
I was surprised how large the catfish pieces were and they tasted very good being nicely battered and with plenty of meat. I can see why Vernon's is famous for their fried catfish. The mashed potatoes and okra were delicious too. It was a filling meal for sure.
Finally the table service was warm and friendly in a neighborly way.
I like Vernon's Kuntry Katfish and understand why it's a popular pace to dine.
First visit and definitely not our last. Ordered the catfish filets with 2 sides for appx $18 bucks. Two adults sufficiently ate from this meal. Which included SIX moderately sized filet!!😲 Talk about bang for your buck!! It was fried fresh & fast. The coleslaw was top-tier 👌🏽 and the pickled... (?) was pretty tasty. 😍 It also came with 4 hushpuppies. Service was amazing & friendly. We did takeout. But our short visit in was nothing short of good vibes. 🫶🏽
