We don't live near Vernon's Kuntry Katfish, but it is WELL worth the drive! We have gone there for years. We usually get seafood (all is great but we especially like the catfish and the shrimp), but they have other things to eat, if you don't or can't eat seafood. In addition to the delicious food, you get lots of it, for your money. And if you are still hungry, or want to stuff yourself, they have great desserts, too. If you leave there hungry, it's your own fault Staff is friendly and attentive. Try it...you won't be disappointed.
Best catfish and hushpuppies that I've ever had. Whether it's grilled or fried, plain, or in a taco, the catfish is incredibly good. Great beans and hushpuppies, banana pudding, fried pickles, and also great chicken fried steak! The service is wonderful. Everyone is friendly! One of our go to places! Best local flavor!!

At checkout I was asking if my ticket included a kids Mac and cheese with fries that we ordered and didn’t receive. When I went to checkout I was attempting to ask the young girl at the counter if the kids Mac and cheese and fries was on the receipt. I wasn’t trying to be a pain but I couldn’t read the short hand that the waitress had written on the ticket. I simply didn’t want to pay for a meal we didn’t receive. There was an older lady that jumped into the conversation At the counter that was very rude. She told me “ma'am you don’t have to be like that” after I tried to explain my question to her. I simply explained again that I couldn’t read the ticket and wanted to make sure that the missing meal wasn’t on the ticket I again said I don’t know what the ticket said to which the employee responded it’s all the food you ordered, your saying you didn’t get any of this? I again stated no that’s not what I’m saying, I simply didn’t want to pay for the kids Mac and cheese that we didn’t get. I don’t know if she thought I was trying to pull something over on the young girl or what, but at no point was I disrespectful. I was in quite a shock when she spoke to me in the condescending manner she did asking me if I said I didn’t get anything on the ticket. It was to the point I said never mind don’t worry about it. Never have I had such an experience.
Long story short, the food and the wait staff were great. To be treated the way I was at the counter was absolutely not necessary. It was to the point that another guest of your establishment stepped in to say to the elder lady, “Ma’am she’s explained it 10 times.”
Truly all I wanted was to be sure I wasn’t paying for one kids meal not received, but after that interaction of a simple question we would never come back to either of your locations which is sad.
This was our first visit here and we had well over the 18 guests originally discussed which you accommodated beautifully. It was all their first time too. Some driving over an hour to be there to celebrate my son’s surprise birthday, and none of them will return either. Very disappointing

Great experience at Vernon’s. Even during a busy Saturday lunch rush with a packed dining room, we were seated in about ten minutes, which was impressive. Service was efficient and attentive, and our food arrived quickly, fresh, and piping hot. The fried green tomatoes were a standout—perfectly crisp on the outside with great flavor. The oysters were large and well-prepared, and the fish was tender and cooked just right. Overall, a smooth, enjoyable dining experience despite the crowd.
I’ll definitely be back.
