We trusted the chef and it was the perfect amount of food. Every dish felt completely different and full of flavour. Our waiter was lovely and incredibly informative about both the food and wine list. We were looked after so well, with attentive service throughout the evening and regular check-ins to see if we needed anything or another drink. Will definitely be back!
A wonderful experience this evening at Kika, and in my humble opinion they're still just as good as I remember from my last visit nearly 8 year ago now.
We ordered a la carte but went with the recommendation of 3 small plates, one main, and two sided to share between two people and finished the meal feeling very full and satisfied without even needing dessert.
My wife even said this was the best meal of our NZ trip, we had already eaten at Ahi, Alma, and Amano in Auckland, Fiddlesticks and Goldfinch in Christchurch, and Treehouse Wanaka the evening before. Maybe it's recency bias but hey, happy wife, happy life. And Kika definitely made my wife very happy tonight. A wonderful way to end a wonderful day in Wanaka.
For me, it's truly a must-dine experience when visiting the city.
Thanks Kika team for an amazing dinner! The service was excellent, the atmosphere was warm and welcoming, and the food was as expected - top quality, and so tasty! We particularly enjoyed the lamb shoulder, and the ricotta & spinach gnudi - but everything on the menu looked so good - will just have to come back!

One of the best meals I had in my entire trip to New Zealand. Starting with the restaurant itself, the ambiance was beautiful. The staff was incredibly friendly, it was just a very comfortable environment to eat in. And of course, the food. Every single thing was delicious. In particular, this was one of the best tartares I've ever had, but again, there were no misses on this menu. Even the desserts were great, the Pavlova in particular was a standout. Absolutely highly recommended!
5 stars all round! We just loved our meal at Kika, the food and the staff were all extraordinary. On a cool night in Wanaka it was a joy to walk into the wood fired warmth of the Kika dining room and be guided by their lovely staff through the menu that we shared and enjoyed every mouthful! We are already planning our return, thank you!
