This was an incredible experience! I have never been so close to fireworks and now, I am not sure I can ever go back. No, upfront and center is the absolute best way to see the fireworks!!!
Also, Joe was a great guide- not only did we get a unique experience for the SD night life on the bay as a kayaker, he also shared some curious biological education about critters above and under water. I can't wait to do this again. I do recommend stretching before and after as it still a full body work out, though it hardly feels like it.

What an amazing experience! I may never look at fireworks the same way again. Joe is very knowledgeable and explains everything thoroughly. If you've never kayaked before or you're hesitant, Joe is the guy you want to teach and guide you. You won't be disappointed, just book it.
Had so much fun with Kayak Joe SD last night (night kayak for fireworks in Mission Bay)! Joe was super helpful and friendly and enabled us all to have a great time. I brought my own kayak but he has his own for people to rent and all the gear you would need. I didnât have my own light for my boat so he let me borrow one of his, as well as a pair of gloves, and even test drive one of his paddles to compare its performance to my own. Iâm not a very experienced kayaker but he was happy to share tips and keep pace with those of us who were slower in the group (and even tow someone who needed an extra boost at one point). Our route through the bay was beautiful and smooth sailing, and we got close to (but still a safe distance from) the fireworks, for a front-row, gorgeous view from the water! Iâm very satisfied with my experience. We did something awesome! Thanks, Joe!
I had a great and fun time. I went to watch fireworks. Joe gave very clear instructions on where to meet. He also was fully prepared with items that a person could need for example, gloves and a phone case to prevent it getting wet. Joe was very helpful and gave clear instructions on how to paddle a kayak.
Went on a night kayak to see the fireworks with my friend, and we enjoyed the experience Joe created! He gave us water bottles, gloves, and everything we needed to feel comfortable and prepared. The fireworks were absolutely incredible!! Nothing beats seeing fireworks up close on a kayak! Highly recommend!
This was such a great experience and would definitely do it again :) :) The fireworks were so close to us on the water and it is probably the best fireworks that I have seen. Also Joe was super nice and provided us with water, gloves, and offered to tow us if we got tired. The group of people were also really nice and friendly. I think this is a really special experience and would recommend :)
I signed up solo and left feeling like Iâd just kayaked through a magical peaceful funny San Diego dream. Joe had everything covered: waterproof phone case (check), gloves (check), water bottle (hydrated queen), and even a bracelet that says âI did something awesomeâ - which, honestly, we did.
He gave clear directions and beginner-friendly tips, so even if youâve never kayaked in your life, youâll feel like a pro. Then the fireworks started and my jaw said âgoodbyeâ and fell into the bay. 10/10 would do it again!!
