We wanted to move to Cozumel but we were intimidated by the ordeal of obtaining residency, learning Spanish, and most of all the process of buying a house. On one of our trips to the island I took a chance and contacted Karen Cozumel Real Estate. Alejandra Pacheco Starke (Ale) came and picked us up and showed us four houses. She was so knowledgable about the island, neighborhoods, the houses themselves, and the process for non-citizens to buy property. She answered all our questions and by the end of the day we realized it could happen!
Ale showed us many more houses on multiple trips to the island until we found the perfect one. She worked with us to set up a timeline for the process and to arrange a payment schedule. Her communication was excellent. She helped us find ways to make things work when our bank was being uncooperative. Karen Cozumel Real Estate handled the legal side of things, the setting up of the fidelcommiso, all the things I had been dreading.
Overall, it was a very positive experience for us. This was the best decision we ever made and we are so grateful to Ale and Karen Cozumel Real Estate for making it happen.

They took beautiful pictures and marketed the house in a very polished presentation. They had a buyer in a relatively short time. Unfortunately the trust bank proved to be less than efficient causing a delay in the closing process. Karen and team continued to work with the bank and Notario to complete the transaction, keeping me informed along the way. We met Karen Bloemhoff in April of 2022 and ended up signing a deal to purchase a unit at Distrito Norte Cozumel shortly thereafter. Karen came highly recommended from a previous client we had met earlier in the week.
Once the deal was official, Karen and her team liaised with the developer, assisted us with all the paperwork moving forward and ensured we were clear in our understanding of the process as construction progressed. When delays arose, Karen kept us informed and made sure our interests were protected all the way through the process.
We finally took possession of our unit in Oct'2025 and completed the closing process in Feb'2026. The entire process, despite the aforementioned delays, was seamless and completely stress free on our end.
