Kalye on Broome Street offers solid Filipino cuisine, but it didn’t quite hit all the marks for me. The flavors are authentic, and some dishes like the adobo are tasty, but a few items felt a little uneven or under-seasoned. The atmosphere is casual and welcoming, perfect for a quick meal, and the staff is friendly. Overall, a decent spot if you’re craving Filipino food, but there’s room for improvement in consistency and execution.

We had a wonderful experience at KALYE, a Filipino restaurant in New York that I highly recommend. We enjoyed traditional dishes served on banana leaves, which added a special touch to our meal. At KALYE, you have the option to eat with your hands or use clear plastic gloves—both ways are enjoyable! The owner, Mr. Rob Mallari-D'Auria, was very engaging and made a point to visit each table to inquire about our experience and introduce himself. When he came to our table, we had the joy of sharing our Filipino heritage with him. My brother mentioned that we were born in the Philippines, which led to lots of laughter as we switched from English to Tagalog—except for my son, who was born here and hasn't learned Tagalog or our dialect, Pangalatok. Mr. Rob was generous and offered us a complimentary shot, which was delightful, along with an amazing Ube Mocktail! I can't recommend the Ube sliders enough; they are a must-try for anyone planning to visit. Overall, the food was fantastic, and the atmosphere was warm and welcoming. The staff, including Mr. Rob, were incredibly friendly and attentive. I will definitely be returning to KALYE for another wonderful meal! ---

Came by for a Friday dinner -- our party of 2 didn't have a reservation but we managed to snag a walk-in table around 6:30pm. It's not the biggest restaurant though, so we probably got lucky (you should definitely make a res). -- Pork BBQ skewers were so delicious! The BBQ sauce was just the right amount of sweet, and the pork was cooked so well (juicy and tender). Portion size did feel a bit small for the price point, though -- Pork sisig was good. I liked how the onions / sour flavouring complemented the savoury flavour of the pork. It was a bit too salty to eat by itself (and we didn't quite finish), but fortunately we had some rice on the side to mellow it out somewhat. -- Finally we had the bangus binalot, which was good too. Milkfish is not the most common to find in the US and I was pleasantly surprised to find such a great dish here. It did not feel too oily/heavy from frying, and the fish paired excellently with the fragrant garlic rice. Overall, I had a very nice meal, and the price point was not unreasonable. I think overall the food felt a little salty, but otherwise everything was quite delicious. I think they've moved (nearby) since my visit and I'd love to re-visit and try some of their other dishes!

The food at Kalye is AMAZING full of flavor and so fresh, feels like home! The live music made the vibe even better. Huge shoutout to Alesi at the bar, super friendly, made great drinks, and even gave us awesome speakeasy recommendations. Get their Silogs! Definitely a must-visit!

Drinks are delicious! The best I had in my time in NY. Chris the Bartender is an amazing mixologist and not only an expert in his craft but is so personable and makes you feel like you’re the only patron in the establishment with his full attention and conversation. Definitely make a reservation
