We really enjoyed our stay in Kalix Riverside Inn. It is a unique family owned swedish place where a lot of effort and care has been put in. We stayed in the house on top of the hill with a shared sauna in front. Room and bathroom were very clean, decoration was very original with a great vintage taste and kitchen was super well equipped, including oil, salt, tea and basics which are always a really nice detail. The hosts are very kind, providing us many self made booklets of things to do around the area. Breakfast was great with views to the river and the bird life. We also loved dinner in the evening. Products are local and were delicious. We would really recommend staying here for an authentic nature experience supporting family owned businesses! Hopefully we can come back in the summer!

The breakfast was amazing, not a great variety of things on offer, but all the ingredients were top notch and it was a wonderful look on Scandinavian culture with its selection of cold cuts, cheeses, veggies and the delicious bread for the open face sandwiches and the porridge was well simmered and absolutely delicious. The rooms were decorated with a good Scandinavian taste and were very homey. A slight minus point for the kitchen that was actually shared with the other guest room. We were lucky that the other room didn't have visitors while we were there. Another minus point for the rooms is that there is no air conditioning. You can only open a window to let in cooler air. Which leads to tobacco smoke in the room if the people in the other room steps outside to smoke, which will be directly in front of your own window. There is also no TV in the room. There is a wonderful, shared sauna right in front of our room. A slight minus point for the sauna that there is no vestibule room connecting to the sauna, and the sauna has a glass door, so if other guests come to the sauna wanting to use it, they will immediately see other people sitting in the sauna naked - and you should always go to sauna naked, as is our Finnish tradition. We were not impressed with the customer service we received when we first arrived at this B&B, as there was a random man standing close to the unmanned reception area, he didn't introduce himself and didn't welcome us and he basically didn't really tell us anything about this place but instead called the owner on the phone and told up where the restaurant was ans were our room was. But later on, the lady who I presume to be the owner, was very polite and friendly. I did enjoy my time in this B&B. The breakfast was delicious and the room was nice.

Die Lage am Fluss ist traumhaft schön. Die Gastgeber sind freundlich und hilfsbereit. Abends wird gekocht und das Essen schmeckt super. Ein Highlight ist die etwas chaotische, aber vielleicht eben deshalb sehr interessante Sammlung alter Militärfahrzeuge, die ein paar Schritte abseits bestaunt werden können. Jede Menge Ausflugsmöglichkeiten runden das Erlebnis ab.
