Kenny was extremely patient and thorough. After each lesson with my 4 month old puppy , he sends a detailed email reviewing everything that we did in class with lots of suggestions to ensure success. He encouraged me to reach out to him in between classes for any questions I had. I am so glad that I invested the time and money because I know i will end up with a well behaved dog. Thanks Kenny!
My boyfriend, our dog Harvey, and I had such a great training experience with Kenny — I truly can’t recommend him enough!
Harvey is our 60-pound, two-year-old pup with super goofy, excitable energy. We needed help managing that energy on leash, especially when he’d get frustrated and overstimulated because he wanted to play with dogs he saw, react to barking dogs, or get overly excited when greeting people. We wanted a trainer who wouldn’t take away Harvey’s fun, happy personality, but instead help us channel and manage that energy. Since he’s our first dog, we also wanted someone who could teach us along the way, as we weren’t really sure where to start.
Kenny really takes the time to understand your dog’s personality and tailors his training accordingly. He clearly explains his methods and teaches you as the owner, offering thoughtful feedback and guidance along the way. After each session, he sends detailed follow-up emails reviewing what you worked on, which makes practicing at home so much easier. He’s also very responsive whenever questions come up between sessions. After working with Kenny, Harvey has improved so much on the leash. He’s more focused, easier to redirect, and much calmer in situations that used to overwhelm him.
Harvey loved training with Kenny (especially the cheese rewards!), and it honestly made us wish we had found K9 Kenny sooner. Harvey has always loved learning — we just didn’t know how to tap into that in the right way. Kenny helped us unlock that and gave us the tools and confidence to continue building on it.
If you’re looking for an incredible trainer for both your pup and yourself, K9 Kenny is absolutely the place to go!
We had an incredible experience working with Kenny for our dog, Luna. From day one, he was patient, knowledgeable, and truly invested in both Luna *and* us as her humans.
The **results and overall experience were excellent**. Kenny has a calm, clear way of explaining not just *what* to do, but *why* it works—which made all the difference. Recall is one of the hardest skills to teach, and he broke it down into practical, achievable steps that made us feel confident continuing the work on our own. His emphasis on timing, engagement, consistency, and positive reinforcement was spot on, and we saw meaningful progress quickly.
One thing I especially appreciated was that after each session, Kenny sent a **very thorough follow-up email outlining the exact training steps from the previous day**. Having everything clearly documented made it easy to stay consistent and practice correctly between sessions, which absolutely contributed to Luna’s progress.
Beyond the training itself, Kenny genuinely cares. He took the time to understand Luna’s personality and energy, tailored the approach to her needs, and made the entire process encouraging and supportive. Luna absolutely adored him (we joke she’s going to have “Kenny withdrawals”).
If you’re looking for a trainer who delivers **real results** while also creating a **positive, supportive experience**, I can’t recommend Kenny enough. We’re so grateful for everything we learned.
Thanks to Kenny, my pup Hildi is keeping up with my older dogs (and surpassing them on some things). She is my first Rottweiler, and I hadn’t raised/trained a puppy in years. So when I found Kenny after being told she is “aggressive” and a powerful breed that would become a liability by the vet, I was in dire need of help. Kenny stepped up and showed me she isn’t aggressive she’s just scared. We are still working through that part but she has become much more comfortable around people and I have gotten compliments from people that come over that while she is still a little skittish she is very well trained for her age (4.5 months). It’s all about respecting her boundaries, and Kenny has done so well with earning her trust. He also gives the most details instructions after a session that usually there will be no extra questions needed. Please see attached picture for my Hildi pup doing a little training this morning with her siblings.
My partner and I had the best experience with K9 Kenny. He was able to really listen to our initial concerns with our puppy Gus, and also adjust the training as his problem areas changed during the course of our training. Kenny consistently provided clear instructions during training sessions on how to work on commands, building up the difficulty for Gus over time. He was very thoughtful in his post-training summary emails and gave us clear tips and instructions on Gus' weekly homework. Gus was particularly stubborn with leash pulling, and this has significantly improved with Kenny's guidance and help. Couldn't recommend more!
Kenny was so great with our dog, Maya. Maya is so smart but so stubborn and Kenny had so many extra tips and tricks to help us keep Maya engaged and following our orders. He always answered all of our emails very quickly and was very accommodating with our limited availability. He took great care to ensure Maya was comfortable/unafraid (she gets nervous around new people) during our sessions and walked us through the correct way to continue her training at home.
We personally took our Belgian Mal of 7 months to get help from Kenny and he was the man. Helped us give her incredible obedience training and really just set us up to have a great relationship with her and even teach her a bunch of cool tricks after she graduated with Kenny. Really great guy and excellent teacher
When I first brought my 5-month-old puppy to Kenny, she was completely untrained and very fearful. I wasn’t sure how she would respond to working with someone new, but Kenny quickly earned her trust. After just a few sessions, I started seeing such a positive change — she became more confident, responsive, and comfortable in new situations.
What really sets Kenny apart is his clear approach to training. He explains methods in a straightforward, effective way that makes it easy to understand what’s expected — for both the dog and the myself. I especially appreciated the detailed email follow-ups after each session. They provided a great recap of what we covered and gave us “homework” to keep making progress between sessions.
Kenny was also incredibly responsive and open to questions, always willing to provide thoughtful answers and guidance. It’s clear he truly cares about helping both dogs and their people succeed.
Thanks to Kenny, my puppy is growing into a confident and well-behaved companion. I couldn’t be happier with the experience and highly recommend him to anyone looking for a skilled, dedicated, and professional dog trainer.
10/10 recommend working with Kenny! He made a huge impact with my 6-month-old puppy in such a short time. Before training, it was starting to be tough to take him places because he pulled on the leash and jumped on people. He was also starting to bark a ton. Now, I barely have to touch the leash, he sits patiently in public, and his barking has gone down by 95%. Kenny is effective and also incredibly easy and enjoyable to work with.
A few years ago, we took one of our dogs to Kenny for training and this year, we took the other. Both dogs have almost polar opposite behavior; one has fear aggression and is constantly barking and unsure of herself and the other is overly friendly with very little self control. While some elements of those are still present and probably always will be, regardless of training, both are so much better with how they handle them now.
Kenny masterfully adjusted the training for both to be specific to their individual characteristics and where they needed the most help. He came up with detailed plans for their training, focusing on some lessons while skipping others entirely to make room for new lessons, all tailored specifically for each pup. Additionally, he provided very detailed and informative emails after each session to recap what we all learned (dog training is as much training the owners as it is the dogs!), which also provided a quick go-to reference to see what to keep focusing on with at-home lessons in the time between sessions with him.
Highly recommended for any dogs with any specific behaviors that you're trying to address. Thanks again Kenny!
We worked with Kenny for a package of training sessions with our heeler mix, Kai. We saw a great improvement in our pup's manners and obedience from following Kenny's guidance and instructions. The lessons went at a steady pace that kept our pup engaged but not too overwhelmed. They were simple, but effective with the right practice at home.
Our main issue that we came to Kenny for was leash pulling and reactivity with other dogs. His loose-leash walking training helped us get a handle on this and he's much better for us now on walks and with other dogs.
Kenny provides detailed instructions following each lesson that are good resources to go back to. He is also a great resource on all things dog training and gave us helpful advice on any questions we had. He is also very responsive to questions over email, and accomodating with any rescheduling needs.
His space is set up great for training purposes and has even dedicated his backyard to dog training. We have done group training classes before, but found a lot more value in working directly with a trainer. Kai also loved seeing and working with Kenny and got excited everytime he knew where we were going. Very pleased with our training, and would recommend Kenny to anyone looking for a trainer!
We had the best experience with Kenny! He helped us train our 10 month old puppy, Franklin, learn basic obedience. He tailored the sessions to what we wanted to focus on and throughly explained every detail of the command. If one way didn’t work for us, Kenny would always have a different solution. Before one of the sessions it had rained outside causing Franklin’s paws to be a bit slippery on his floor due to walking on the wet grass before the training started. The next session, Kenny had completely redone the floor and added nonslip flooring down everywhere. We were so impressed that he went above and beyond to accommodate his clients. His house is really tailored to the dog’s needs.
He also has excellent communication skills and we really loved his follow up emails detailing the prior training. It is evident Kenny truly cares about dogs and loves what he does. We are very pleased with Franklin’s training and fast improvement. Highly recommend Kenny!
We really enjoyed working with Kenny to train our 1.5-year-old dog, Haku. We quickly realized when starting to work with Kenny that ultimately, the goal of our training was to improve how we communicate with Haku, and each training session brought us closer to that.
Kenny clearly knows what he’s doing. He is great about being reliable in answering our questions at any point in the week and sends detailed notes following each session. Walks with Haku are much easier, and we love doing training sessions with Haku now. We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Kenny to our friends or anyone in Austin looking for a dog trainer.
Kenny is conveniently located in South Austin, and is an extremely knowledgeable and well-trained dog handler/trainer. He was patient not only with our young puppy but also with us who are new to dog ownership. Kenny gives a great lesson followed by homework to instill confidence in both dog and owners, as well as a written guide after each lesson for follow up. I highly recommend Kenny to get your precious paws on the right path to obedience.
I rescued a dog (Skyla) whose high energy and rambunctiousness caused her to be repeatedly returned to a Houston animal shelter. Not having a stable home and the consequent abandonment issues exacerbated Skyla's wild behavior, to the point that the shelter was considering putting her down. When I decided to keep her, I almost immediately looked into getting training for the both of us even though I had never done so with other dogs I took care of in the past. Kenny's lessons and advice very much so helped our dynamic, proved Skyla had the potential to settle down (eventually), and provided me confidence in how to work with her on a consistent basis. I would recommend Kenny to any dog owner who is willing to take coaching on interacting with their pet(s) in an effective manner.
I can’t say enough great things about K9 Kenny and the incredible work he did with my 7-year-old dog! I was honestly a little nervous about training at this stage in my dog’s life, but K9 Kenny proved that it’s never too late.
He was patient, knowledgeable, and truly tuned into my dog’s needs and personality. The difference in behavior has been amazing—walks are more enjoyable, commands are followed more consistently, and overall, my dog seems happier and more confident.
It’s clear that K9 Kenny genuinely loves what he does and cares about both the pets and their owners. I highly recommend him to anyone looking for a skilled, compassionate, and professional dog trainer.
Kenny is terrific! He helped my wife and I train our 4 year old Boston terrier, and the improvement in her behavior and skills was noticeable very soon after we started our lessons. Kenny has a great way with dogs and people alike, and it makes the whole experience fun and enjoyable. It is very obvious in working with Kenny that he has a strong passion for helping dogs be their best! He also understands that success in training will depend on an owner’s commitment to the process, so he is very supportive throughout with follow ups and his availability for questions between sessions as well. We can’t thank him enough for his help, and HIGHLY recommend him to anyone looking for qualify dog training in Austin!
