Mountain Harbor is a wonderful gateway to the Roan Highlands and Appalachian Trail. This is my 3rd or 4th stay. The first time in the B&B. The rooms are lovely and very clean. The breakfast is absolutely delicious. The "Kitchen", their restaurant, provides yummy filling meals that satisfy a hiker's hunger. There was entertaining live music Friday night. The hosts, Mary , David and Shannon are accommodating and so friendly. Trail Mix, the manager, is also just the best.
Awesome place! We camped the night before a short section hike, $15 which included parking and an incredible breakfast the next morning. Dinner was absolutely delicious and live music and great beer selection. They shuttled me, my partner, and our dog up to Carvers gap for $25 and we left our car parked back at the B&B.
We hiked from Carvers to Doll Flats then Doll Flats back to Mountain Harbour to catch breakfast again, because it’s that good. We were greeted with open arms and lots of love for our pup.
They’re still rebuilding the bunk house but lots of camping options and clean port o potties. No shower currently but they hope to have things back to normal Spring of 2026. Make sure to support this place!!
Super nice folks and very dog friendly.

I do not even know where to begin. This place was wonderful. So glad we came across it. We will be back. The breakfast was to die for. The bed was comfortable. The property is absolutely adorable. This is a must stay at place!
You will come as a stranger and leave a friend!!
We stayed here the night before hiking Carver's Gap to 19e in the B & B. It's a wonderful place, still in the process of rebuilding from Helene. The food at the restaurant is superb. Very casual too. Very close to the AT and convenient to thru hikers looking to zero. They also have a reasonable shuttle service.
This was my first time staying at a bed and breakfast and it was absolutely incredible. My boyfriend and I stayed for one night before we backpacked the Roan Highlands. The bedroom was so cute. We shared a bathroom with the other room upstairs. The breakfast was the best I’ve ever had! Don’t forget to get the tomato pie. That was so good! We also got a burger for lunch on our way out after our trip which was also to die for. They have a shuttle service as well. Shannon and David are the nicest people you will meet. Jake (one of their cats) is so cute and loves cuddles. We loved our stay here and we will definitely be back again! Seriously feels like your visiting family 😊
Breakfast was simply incredible. After days on the trail, any hot food is good. But the amazing folks at Mountain Harbour redefine hot breakfast. Everything…everything…was a labor of love and the sights, smells, and tastes all testified to that. This place is worth planning a visit to on its own. Be sure to get a reservation in advance!
