I’ve haven’t used an Auction site for a couple of years. It was once complicated and expensive for storage and shipping. I’m extremely happy to say that Iron Gate have made the process exceedingly simple. The customer service is great and fast to respond. The new shipping options are fantastic, so convenient and great value. Can’t wait for the next auction.

When I decided to auction some of the whisky I had, I had no idea where to start. The process was very intimidating reaching out to houses like Sotheby’s, Christies or others in the UK. It was recommended to me that I look into Iron Gate Auctions, a Canadian company and I’m so glad I did! My first conversation with Ajay Bhardwaj (Director, Spirits) put me at ease immediately with his down to earth, friendly approach. His knowledge and passion for the spirit was also reassuring. His team in Calgary were just as gracious. As for the auction itself, I was very pleased with the results and would not hesitate to recommend Iron Gate.

If you have collectible wines and haven’t sold them before, you, as a consignor, probably have some trepidation (and rightly so) as to whom to trust in this endeavour. I have no hesitation whatsoever in saying to you - or experienced sellers - that the team at Iron Gate Auctions know what they are doing and in their ability to manage the end to end process of realizing your wine’s market value.
Here’s why: I have been dealing with Warren Porter and his Iron Gate company’s team for over a decade now. Through them, I purchased the vast majority of my collectible wines. When I started collecting, I relied on Iron Gate to advise me as to which ones would be suitable for creating a wine cellar collection designed on the three principles of maturation, investment, and inheritance.
Now, at this time of my life, I am downsizing and therefore relied on Warren's team once again to help me in navigating the selling process. His team was tremendously helpful in identifying which ones should go to auction and in providing extremely detailed reporting on each wine’s Estimated High/Low values at auction. Then they provided all the onboarding and logistics needed to move nearly 500 bottles of my wine from Nova Scotia in a temperature-controlled moving van to their Alberta headquarters.
I have been very comfortable with the ability of the team at Iron Gate Auctions to manage the process of selling high-end wines from the onboarding process to the high-resolution photos of my wines on the auction online catalogue through live Auction updates of each wine’s Bid and to realize sales figures within their Estimated Values. That was followed by the ultimate thrill of receiving a timely payout. Their process is totally seamless from end to end!
