I called Integrity Environmental Testing out of concern for my 70s house. I recently had a flood, and due to that I learned of several sources of asbestos in my house. I was interested in getting everything tested, just so I would know how to gauge my level of exposure and risk for doing any house projects as the house reaches a level of attrition and has been needing upgrades as well as repairs lately. I spoke with a technician, I apologize that I already forgot his name, but he was very thorough in asking me a lot of questions and we addressed each of my concerns one by one.
I have popcorn ceiling, I know that asbestos was found in my kitchen lineoleum and the drywall texture in the walls as a result of my flood, and I also have peeling wallpaper in places. We went through each thing and based on the quantity of each, the location, and my plans for what I'd like to do in the future, he discussed my risk and options. For example the popcorn ceiling is throughout the house and would be a large enough project that it might truly merit an abatement job, however he also suggested that it's completely viable to drywall over all of it, and may be cheaper to boot. the wallpaper is just covering small sections of wall and isn't in the scope of colorado's asbestos requirements; using a humidifier to remove this myself would be a very low risk and much cheaper to deal with.
I appreciated the time he took to ensure I understood and was comfortable with the information he gave me. They are ready and willing to come out and test at my request but given how much expense we had due to the flood I really appreciate being properly calibrated to what is legally required, what is risky, what is feasible and what alternatives I have.
