I had a brilliant experience on my yoga retreat with India Yoga School, where I had 7 days of excellent teaching and excursions, including aerial yoga. The shala is beautiful, the teachers are kind and dedicated and the location is near the beach, making it a perfect location for a getaway and digital detox.
My journey with India Yoga School in Goa (Mandrem) has been nothing short of life changing. I’ve been practicing here for almost a year now, and every single day on the mat has deepened my understanding of yoga—not just as a physical practice, but as a way of living.
What truly makes this place special are the teachers. Achita and Shivansh are not just incredibly knowledgeable, but also deeply grounded, warm, and genuinely present with every student. Their guidance goes beyond instruction they create a safe and nurturing space where you feel seen, supported, and encouraged to grow at your own pace.
I initially came here to explore yoga more deeply, but the experience has been far richer than I ever imagined. The Hatha classes, especially with mantra chanting, bring such a beautiful balance of strength, stillness, and devotion. There’s something incredibly powerful about beginning or ending practice with sound it shifts your entire inner state.
The aerial yoga sessions have also been an absolute joy. They bring playfulness into the practice while still building strength, awareness, and trust in your body. It’s rare to find a place that balances discipline and lightness so effortlessly.
For anyone considering yoga teacher training, I wholeheartedly recommend their 200 hours teacher training as well as their Aerial TTC. The depth of knowledge, the authenticity of teaching, and the environment they cultivate make it a truly enriching experience whether you want to teach or simply deepen your personal practice.
Being a student here has been a journey of self-discovery, discipline, and inner connection. This school is not just about learning postures it’s about understanding yoga in its true essence.
Grateful to be part of this space in Goa. 🙏
Highly experienced Teacher. The Yoga classes are well structured and teached in traditional way. I really liked the adjustments and the energy of the teachers. Thanks🙏🏼💫
I’ve attended a few drop in hatha classes here with Shivansh. I have enjoyed how he weaves mantra into class, and his energy in holding space that makes class both effective and enjoyable. The reminder to be present and the Inclusion of ancient teachings and Sanskrit throughout class is really wonderful. Thank you 🙏
Did the aerial yoga class. It was really good. There was also meditation and chanting afterwards which we joined in. Being Holi they also invited us to join them to celebrate Holi. Really friendly and lovely people and can definitely recommend it.
I was here for a 4 day yoga retreat with my friend, and we both loved it and wished we could stay longer.! The teaching is very professional, yet delivered in a relaxed and easy going manner. The bed is one of the most comfortable I’ve slept in in India, and the food was delicious.! I can not really fault the retreat and the structure.. There was plenty of free time to do your own thing, or just chill by the pool or beach and plenty of amazing yoga in the morning and evening.. we are leaving very content, and definitely would love to return 😊 Thank you!! Eva and Simon
The classes in Aerial Yoga, Hatha Yoga, Ashtanga Yoga, Aqua Yoga, and Meditation are well-structured and suitable for all levels. The instructors are highly knowledgeable, patient, and deeply focused on correct alignment, breathing, and mindfulness.
I recently completed a 1-week Yoga Teacher Training at India Yoga School in Goa, and it was truly a transformative experience. The training was intensive and ran throughout the day, allowing us to fully immerse ourselves in the learning process. In just one week, I was introduced to Aerial Yoga, Hatha Yoga, Ashtanga Vinyasa, Pranayama, and Meditation - with both theory and practical sessions covered in depth.
The teachers were knowledgeable, patient, and deeply rooted in authentic yogic principles. I appreciated how beautifully the course balanced physical practice with philosophy and breathwork. The hands-on guidance helped me build confidence not only in my personal practice but also in my teaching skills.
Beyond the asanas, I gained deeper clarity about breath awareness, alignment, and the philosophy behind the practice. The learning environment was supportive and encouraging, making it easy to ask questions, explore, and grow.
A special mention to Shivansh and Archita.
Shivansh for his wonderful Yoga Philosophy and Hatha Yoga classes - energetic, heartfelt, and enriched with meaningful explanations of each topic, beautifully supported by principles of physics. Archita is incredibly experienced when it comes to asanas, she notices every detail and helps you improve with kindness, patience, and encouragement.
And finally, the food was amazing - healthy, delicious, and always adaptable to individual needs, which made the entire experience even more nourishing.
I am truly grateful for this journey and would highly recommend this school to anyone looking to deepen their yoga practice or teaching path. Thank you for such a beautiful learning experience :)
Beautiful place to practice Yoga. Really recommend it if you are in Goa
I had a wonderful time at the India Yoga School and would definitely recommend it.
The rooftop shala is amazing – such a beautiful space with stunning views (see pictures). The teachers are highly professional and knowledgeable. Even though I have been practicing yoga for many years, I learned a lot during my stay.
Aerial yoga was a real highlight for me. I had never tried it before and was quite nervous, but Archita is an incredible teacher who helped me work through my anxiety and really enjoy the experience.
I also loved the excursions, such as cave meditation, hidden lake meditation, pool yoga, and yoga & meditation at the beach. Another big plus was the weekly Kirtan (chanting) sessions – I became a huge fan! Overall, the weekly schedule was very diverse.
The location is perfect: only about 10 minutes’ walk to the beach. Mandrem is a lovely little town with nice shops and restaurants. I sometimes ate out because breakfast and dinner were a bit limited for my personal taste, but lunch was typical Indian food and absolutely delicious.
I booked a single room, which was spacious and clean. The pool is part of the amenities and can be used all day, which was great.
Overall, the place offers a very good value for money (great price–performance ratio). It’s not luxury, but a solid, authentic yoga school experience.
I will definitely come back to Mandrem and would love to visit this yoga school again to practice with the beloved teachers.
One of the best school's to learn aerial! Absolutely looove the teachers, the vibe, the techniques, and community! Shivansh and Archita are amazing and will make you feel at home!
I initially joined Aerial Yoga drop in classes at India Yoga School. I loved it so much I ended up doing the Aerial TTC. Archita is an amazing Aerial Yoga and Ashtanga Vinyasa instructor and Shivansh is well versed with Yoga philosophy and anatomy. They take you on lot of amazing excursions for meditation. I discovered so many hidden gems because of this. Will definitely recommend this school for any Yoga training or retreat. They are super accommodative and friendly, one wont feel the stress of going through the intense Yoga practice
Highly Recommended!!! Yoga Drop-in in Goa,
I found this spot in my search for yoga spaces that helps explore, learn about yoga and build consistency. This is a beautiful Yogashala (called India Yoga School) run by Shivansh, Archita and Co. located before the Mandrem hill inside Fantasy Cafe. They are open for Yoga Drop-in and a lot of people turn up daily. They also regularly organize Yoga retreats in Goa and provide yoga TTC in Goa which are essentially teacher trainings.
They have a wide variety of classes throughout the day and week, with knowledgeable and friendly teachers delivering them.
The Yogashala is open from Mon-Fri and do a variety of yogas. Usually Pranayam (7:30 AM) and breathing based yogas happen in the morning, followed by Asthanga or Hatha Yoga from 8:30-10 AM. Aerial Yoga at 4 PM taught by Archita everyday. Aerial classes are beginner friendly and are super fun. She has a good depth of knowledge, form and is super involved - quick to correct mistakes and patient in explaining the whys. They also do Aqua Yoga instead of Aerial on Thursdays. Meditation at 5:15 PM everyday (they take you to beautiful locations on different days), Om Chanting on Mondays etc.
I chose this school because of the good Google reviews, and I’m really glad I did.
Archida, Princy, and Shivansh were all very kind and always checked if I needed anything. They made me feel comfortable and encouraged me to ask for help whenever I needed it💖
All three teachers taught with great passion, and even though my English is not very strong, they made a lot of effort to ensure that I could follow the classes without difficulty. Thanks to their support, I was able to successfully complete the course and receive my certificate.
Also, the meals were really good and plentiful👍
I was told that I was the first Korean student, and I’m writing this review hoping that many more Korean students will visit in the future.
I was attending drop-in aerial yoga classes. It was interesting experience. Very professional and helpful teacher, she gave very detailed instructions.
And beautiful place.
