We’ve been coming to Impact Self Defense for the past four months, and I can’t say enough great things about this place. From day one, it’s been a positive, supportive environment where my son has been able to grow in both confidence and skill. Every class is structured and engaging, and you can really see the time and care that goes into each session.
Coach Jesse is phenomenal—not only does he teach practical self-defense techniques, but he also takes the time to connect with the kids and push them in a way that builds self-discipline and respect. He leads with energy, encouragement, and heart, creating a space where kids feel safe to challenge themselves and improve. My son looks forward to every class and always leaves feeling accomplished.
The community here is welcoming and uplifting. Parents, coaches, and students all support one another, and it’s clear the goal goes far beyond just self-defense—it’s about building strong, confident individuals. If you’re looking for a place where your child can grow physically and mentally while being guided by a fantastic coach, I highly recommend Impact Self Defense. Coach Jesse is truly the man!

I have been attending cardio kickboxing for about a year now and I am very happy. I have lost weight and my A1C has come down.

Started going to this place almost two years ago, at the recommendation of a very good friend of mine and a fellow student. The Instructor, now my sensi, was a black belt in Jiu Jitsu, stunning Kickboxer, and taught Martial arts in a form oriented towards street defense or defending yourself out in public whether on concrete or grass, wood, or metal. Sensi Jessie is an incredibly patient, kind, caring and great with children as he himself has a beautiful baby boy of his own who usually comes with his dad every morning.
Sensi Jesse usually leaves me sweating heavily after the times I have ended up in solo classes due to cold weather or rain. one specific instance, He had me do 4 and 5 step combinations, IE two jabs, two crosses, two right kicks, switch kick and back to start as fast as I could for 3 minutes, then we broke down into slower movement for form and balance, then had 3 heavy sparring sessions at the end of the class. I was exhausted:):)! BUT IT FELT GOOD!
He teaches a class to the individual in that he's fantastic about breaking down technique in ways that both uniquely make it easy to understand methods and how to place your body or limb for the move. One of my friends, Mildly autistic, who had balance issues was frustrated with herself due to body awkwardness and couldn't get her foot placement right, Sensi Jesse got a big rubber exercise band and had her step in it and stretch her legs so she could get some assistance, after this her foot technique improved within that same lesson 10 fold. She was very pleased with herself. My boyfriend also lost 10 pounds there in about a month going almost every day, right now he goes to college but we still go together on fridays. He had issues with stamina and energy and Sensi Jesse helped him specifically increase his weight lifting strength for his work by working on a systemized increase of weights and spotting for him. I myself over the last two years have lost 60 pounds from 200 to 140 and have gained 15 pounds of muscle in its place, Sensi has helped me immensely after coming off my autism medication, as the martial arts helped keep my energy focus centered. He is a fantastic teacher
It was in a little parking lot on highway 6 across from Aldi and Attached to the Awami Halal Market. There is usually a food truck in our parking lot. Impact Self Defense is almost smack dab in the middle of the strip center

I’ve been training at Impact Self-Defense for a while now, and it’s seriously one of the best places I’ve found for Brazilian jiu-jitsu and MMA. Jesse gives you a whole week free trial to really try it out — no pressure. And honestly, for what they offer, the prices are way lower than I expected compared to other gyms around town. Jesse is freaking awesome, super knowledgeable, and makes everyone feel welcome, no matter your experience level. They even have classes for kids!!! Which is great if you want to get the family involved. I’ve been thinking about getting my little sister involved, which would give me peace of mind knowing she has skills like this. If you’re looking for a place with a friendly vibe, solid training, and some of the best rates in the city, definitely give Impact a shot!

This place is INCREDIBLE!!!!! I've been to several gyms over the years and hands down the best gym I've ever been to. SUPER CLEAN, UNBEATABLE PRICES, and MOST IMPORTANTLY THE INSTRUCTOR JESSE IS AWESOM. My kid wanted to go and a I had heard how good this place was and now we are members for life. Thankyou IMPACT SELF DEFENSE!!!!!! I even drive 45 mins just to go to this gym thats how INCREDIBLE EVERYTHING IS HERE I WOULDNT want my son going anywhere else. Thanks AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!

I am visiting Houston and wanted to get some training in whilst I was away. Felt very comfortable as soon as I walked in the door. Had a great class with a great training partner Peter, and Jesse the instructor took time in the open mat to have a roll and go over some areas of my Jiu Jitsu to work on. No doubt I'll be dropping by again when I visit next.

Update: I've been attending here for roughly 6 months now, and I couldn't be happier. I take BJJ, Cardio Kickboxing, and MMA. The classes are small enough as to where you get a lot of time with sensei which is something you just do not get with other gyms. I'm able to ask in-depth questions and work on anything I'm deficient in. Sensei Jessie is also great with kids as well making his classes fun and engaging. I have a few special needs friends i invited and they now have a new found confidence thanks to sensei Jessie.

Impact caters to both kids and adults. This place is a gem tucked away in the heart of our community.
The prices here are incredibly reasonable, especially considering the quality of instruction Jesse provides. It's refreshing to support a small business that truly values its members and strives to make jujitsu accessible to everyone in the community.
I can't recommend this gym enough. Men, women, and children can all benefit from Impact. Joining this jiu-jitsu family has been one of the best decisions I've made for my entire family.

Has some of the friendliest and helpful people you’ll ever meet. The gym is kept in good shape all the time. Every one of the instructors are great with both BJJ and MMA. The times are spread out well and works if you have a busy schedule too. Would definitely recommend if you’re looking to get into self defense, the sport, or just to have a good workout.

We absolutely LOVE Impact! Can't say enough good things about Coach Jesse and all the people who go there. My three kids have thrived and learned Jiu Jitsu. And more than that they have grown in this gym and made good friends. They have a solid foundation of self defense, how to protect yourself, how to submit the offender if needed. Life skills is what you will get with just the right balance of fun in the class. If you don't want just any ordinary gym, this is definitely the place to be. We love everyone here! ❤️
