We had originally contacted Impact about a quote for renovating our tenement bathroom, before a quick turnaround on selling the flat meant we were unable to go ahead with the proposed work. So a year later when we had a need to remove an awkward old fireplace fitted in our new flat we reached out to Martyn and the team again.
They were great to deal with, above board with the estimated costs and scope of the job, and went out of their way to try and accommodate a quick start to the work in an effort to have it finished for us before Christmas. Unfortunately that wasn’t possible in the end, but they were back first thing after the break to finalise the last steps and we’re delighted with the eventual result. Even a week after completion when we’d decorated the room and found a snagging issue that had been missed, Jason came out the next morning to resolve it for us. They were always communicative and professional to deal with, and happy to add or amend proposed elements to the work whenever we wanted to query something. Definitely highly recommended for any kind of renovation work.
I recently hired Impact to renovate my property after it suffered significant water damage from a burst pipe, and I couldn't be happier with their work. From start to finish, they were professional and highly communicative, providing daily updates that kept me informed every step of the way. Their initial estimates were impressively close to the final cost, which I greatly appreciated for budgeting purposes. Most importantly, the quality of their work was excellent, and my property has been restored beautifully. I highly recommend Impact for their reliability and top-notch service.
Impact were were easy to contact, clear on the cost, Jen was proactive and responsive on the phone to arrange, and I was able to arrange an emergency plumber at short notice. Their communication was efficient and professional. Alex turned up on time, cleaned up, and was very pleasant, even when the buildings' plumbings threw him a few issues. I would definitely recommend and use Impact again. Thanks
I had a leak in one of my bathrooms which was spreading under the flooring. I looked online for a local company and came across Impact Glasgow who's head office is not far from my house. They sent a plumber out who not only found the issue quickly and resolved, he found what would have been a second (and worse) issue down the line and rectified that too. The job was done quickly and professionally and I will have no hesitation on using Impact again in the future.

Thank you Jon!
My bathroom replacement project became a back to brick refurbishment on my 1890 tenement bathroom after the removal of tiling and plaster revealed that the walls had suffered water ingress in the past. The work there took 7 weeks in the end but I appreciated that this was because the chaps started my job as early as they could and therefore they were fitting in my project alongside others. The costs were also in excess of what I expected but everything was clearly itemised. A reminder to everyone to remember you need to add VAT to every cost!
The team are quick to respond to queries or concerns. The chaps on site were all very pleasant and professional and were respectful of my property. Minor snagging issues were addressed very quickly.
My new bathroom is comfortable and well-built - it probably means I now spend longer in the shower than I should!

Many thanks Corran
First used Impact a couple of years ago who helped us with an emergency sink leak at our flat and sorted out-of-hours for a really reasonable price. This time around they helped located and fix a bigger leak in our bathroom shower unit and then a refresh of the whole room. Fantastic communication, regular updates on work, always at the end of a phone or email. Friendly, respectful workers who kept the place tidy throughout. Work carried out to a v high standard and any snags fixed quickly. Would recommend.

Thank you for the review Claire!
Impact Glasgow were recommended by a friend when we recently experienced a leak on our flat roof. My enquiry was dealt with very quickly, and Impact undertook a roof inspection and got a temporary fix in place speedily. They have since replaced some of the slates above our flat roof, along with replacing damaged flashing, siliconing around the window, and also realigning our gutter.I was highly impressed by my experience overall: the work was completed to my satisfaction, the team were professional and polite, and I was very happy with their workmanship.
I would have no hesitation in recommending Impact Glasgow or in using them again in the future.

Thank you Julie!
I'm delighted with the work carried out in my tenement flat by Impact Glasgow. They renovated the bathroom - among other things they installed a new shower and cabinet, replaced the floor, and fixed water damage from dodgy pipework under the old bath. The work was carried out to a high standard.

Thanks Catriona :)
I had the chance to admire Impact's handiwork recently at a friend's house. He's had his kitchen done by Impact and says he's as pleased with the end result as he was with the entire process. Good communication thru'out, the whole team were professional and friendly and always left the place secure and tidy at the end of each day, and you can see from the pix that the standard of their work is really high.

Thank you Linda!
Managed to reach the character limit so I'll try very shortly summarise our experience.
We didn't receive any quotes or estimates for the huge renovation project because they claimed they couldn't tell what problems might occur under the floors, behind the walls etc. Seemed sensible at the time but good builders WILL quote you for work they know can be done irrespective of problems that aren't immediately identifiable visually, like how much to fit a kitchen, rewire, plaster and create partitions, etc. Stupid of us to continue.
They reinforced joists and laid out plumbing pipes downstairs before removing the load bearing pillar so we ended up having to cut through all that work they did because they did this job backwards and in reverse order. "Project manager" tells me "I didn't know you wanted the pillar gone" despite having the plans and architectural drawings half a year ago.
The shower tray doesn't fit the shower area so that's going to cost us to fix it long term - they refused to take responsibility for this.
They gave us surprise bills like a plumbing estimate for over £5,000 because technically they only quoted for "internal plumbing" and not connecting this to the sewage system outside. This is despite the fact the eventual quote we did receive explicitly said "ALL domestic plumbing."
Costs and prices are overcharged, like £2,000 for the material cost of plywood in a tiny bathroom. Once we got the late quote 4 months in, we told them we didn't want to continue with them and to only pay for what they did so far. They ended up charging us an extra £12,000 because this supposedly was to make up for a bunch of discounts and other things they left out to try help us finish the project. "Discounts" and leaving stuff out was never once was agreed upon or talked about.
Plenty of issues and problems with this company, this is mostly just the bulk of the issues we had.

Impact Glasgow refutes these allegations. We pride ourselves on our reputation, our integrity, and our standard of work. This customer may believe that Impact Glasgow does not have the experience or expertise to handle a full house renovation, but our extensive portfolio of previous work and satisfied customer demonstrates otherwise.
This review’s insulting and slanderous comments about our team members do not deserve to be dignified with an answer. More generally though, if our conduct was anything close to what has been alleged, then this would surely be reflected not only in our ratings on Google, Trusted Trader, and Facebook, but also in the amount of repeat business we enjoy, and we certainly would not have been awarded Building Contractor of the Year at the Prestige Awards Scotland twice in the last three years.
Unfortunately, it is not feasible to provide a full and definitive quote for all works before a project starts, as neither the customer nor the contractor has all the facts at that point. Some issues arise that cannot be identified until work has commenced; for example, removing tiles may unexpectedly expose compromised plaster which can lead to unstable brickwork, or unanticipated water damage to floors or walls may be discovered on stripping out a bathroom, or demolition in older builds may uncover asbestos. The idea that any contractor would undertake work without the customer’s explicit agreement and commitment to pay for it is frankly nonsensical. If a small business was to routinely blindside customers with costs as has been alleged, it could not continue to operate as it would inevitably encounter regular refusals and inabilities to pay, to say nothing of the poor reputation it would earn.
Impact Glasgow gives our customers complete visibility throughout the process: at the Estimate stage, even before a customer commits to proceeding on any proposed works, they are made aware that our pricing is an estimate of current labour costs and that all materials and subcontracted work will be added as and when they are established. Customers are also made aware at the Estimate stage of any potential works and costs that we cannot provide projected costings on without further investigation or additional surveying. If those investigations highlight that variations to the works are necessary, or if a customer requests additions or variations to the initial works, then these are Estimated and invoiced separately before that work begins.
Similarly, our trading T&Cs and customer contract are publicly available on our website – you don’t need to be a customer to read them, as we believe in complete transparency – so neither party goes into a project without awareness of our costing and payment process. In the case of this particular customer, Impact Glasgow did everything we could to temper the escalating costs of the project – as any ethical contractor would – in an attempt to preserve and maintain the integrity of the working relationship, because of the scale and scope of the ongoing project. Ultimately however, a project’s budget lies in the hands of the customer. It speaks volumes that this customer is quicker to allege incompetence or inexperience on the contractor’s part as the source of his dissatisfaction than to consider that there could have been a failure on his part to fully appreciate the realistic cost and pitfalls of renovating his property.
In his review the customer admits that it took three different solicitors telling him the same thing before he finally accepted the advice, and that he agreed for work to proceed without contemplating its cost (as well as acknowledging the price that he paid was heavily discounted), and that he hadn’t understood there was a difference between domestic plumbing and the public sewage network, and that having potential “leverage” against a company is a consideration for him. Could it perhaps be the case that the problem here wasn’t Impact Glasgow after all?
