Mr Ivan is an exceptional teacher. With his humour, he transforms usually monotonous social studies lessons into something simply unforgettable. I used to think doing well in social studies was all about luck. However, with his relentless dedication, he has managed to change my stubborn opinion about the subject by guiding me through many tedious practices of SRQs and SBQs. Now, I feel much more confident in social studies, allowing me to shatter the ceiling and finally score better. Without Mr Ivan, I would have remained intimidated by social studies papers, stuck where I was before.

I’m being taught by teacher Milan and I want to say that he is an amazing and fantastic teacher.He goes the extra mile to prepare teaching materials for his students and ensures the discipline in class. He is very encouraging and fun at the same time. I joined at the start of p6 and I have never enjoyed tuition like illum.e before. I am very thankful to Mr Milan because of his efforts and thought put in for his students. His lessons are fun and engaging too. Additionally, I have improved a lot after attending his lessons which proves that his teaching methods work! I’m not thankful for him because of my good grades but due to the fact that he made learning enjoyable and interesting. Writing compositions used to feel boring and exhausting last time. Now after attending illum.e I have learnt to use a twist which makes my story worthy to read on. I love how encouraging Mr Milan is no matter the results I get. He ensures that I know what I can improve on and will push me beyond my limits to reach greater heights. Honestly, there are inexplicable reasons and things that I enjoy about Mr Milan’s lessons. Those that I have listed are only the tip of the iceberg. He helped me grow as a person through values like resilience, unwavering determination and patience. Not to mention through academics too. Happy teacher’s day to all the teachers of illum.e especially Mr Milan!

Mr Liew goes through his lesson very clearly and made me understand how to write essays better. His classes are engaging and detailed by giving us his own recommended answers as well as giving us personalised remarks on what to improve on! He also provides very insightful real life examples for GP questions that are hard to tackle and allows us to think outside of the box with our arguments. He is a very kind and patient teacher, so thankful to have a GP tutor like him!
Mr Liew classes are the MOST engaging and entertaining GP lessons I have ever attended. He makes GP very approachable and he relates the GP concept to real life examples extremely well! He goes the extra mile to help his students, to provide us with extra consultation nearing our exam period. He is the BEST GP tutor I ever had, he always pushes us to think beyond the box with our arguments.
He provides us with strategic ways to improve in our GP skills, and vets through our work meticulously, providing us with the space to clarify our doubts. He is also very well knowledgeable about the various GP topics, providing us with a plethora of niche examples to use in our essay. He also challenges us to reenact the actual exam setting scenarios.
Overall he is very strategic in teaching us how to score for GP, making the subject accessible and approachable for us.
My teacher at illume
I’m Rui Yang ,a student, from Mr David’s lower sec IP English class. Mr David is an EXTREMELY understanding teacher as in secondary school the workload increases, and some days we are too tired to participate. We can just listen to him explain the English concepts clearly and concisely and try our best to do the work. He provides very good feedback on our work and encourages us to keep improving. He sometimes chats with us so that we don’t see him as a typical boring teacher. We see him as a friend. They provide drinks so that I don’t have to run to the convenience store to get one 😅. With that I love illume bc they improved my English from a B4 to A1. LOVE YA MR DAVID WOOO ❤️❤️

HE LITERALLY BROUGHT MY GRADES FROM A C6 TO AN A1 IN JUST 1 TERM. Scared of source based questions and essay, don’t know how to answer? MR IVAN THE FREAKIN G.O.A.T WILL TEACH YOU AND MAKE U UNDERSTAND FULLY. Mr Ivan being a national marker and him going to UK to study has equipped him with mountains of knowledge and power to transfer to you, SO HIS TEACHINGS + YOUR HARD WORK WILL RAISE THE POSSIBILITY OF YOU GETTING UR A IS REALLY HIGH 🙌🏻 So if you take your study seriously and GENUINELY want to SCORE BETTER for your humanities, illume is THE place to go, NOWHERE ELSE. I have been in illume since P5 and my English has improved leaps and bounds. Mr Milan is a patient teacher who explains answering techniques in a simple way to be used in examinations. P4 to P5 is a big jump and I am glad Mr Milan and illume was there to guide me through it. I do the social studies and history classes with Mr Ivan, and the lessons are not only able to keep me hooked for long periods of time, but is also able to clear up any misconceptions or confusion I ever had from the lessons with my school history teachers. As someone with a short attention span, I usually find it difficult to stay focused for over half an hour, but these lessons keep me engaged and make me want to find out what happens next in the content (for history). I have never been so clear with the history content before, 100/10!
Mr Ivan and Mr Chia are exceptional teachers and are very knowledgeable in their fields.They have a lot of experience and have good methods to engage and teach topics.They have also helped improve my grades for English and History by atleast 2 grades in about a month 😸
Mr Ivan, who is my teacher for history and social studies is a most exceptional teacher, giving both the most exemplar and interesting lessons, with time given for humour while still keeping the lesson on track. Overall an excellent teacher

One of the best tuition centers I went to. I joined in mid July, and went from failing SS to getting a B3 in my prelims. Mr Ivan is the best SS teacher to ever teach me, his lessons are fun, interactive and engaging. Mr Ivan's patience allowed me to understand every single thing taught during his lessons. Overall, Mr Ivan is a great teacher and he can definitely help you ace your SS.
I love howit helps at late at night timings so it will not clash with my cca. additionally the teacher mr ivan can use like extremely good singlish so that it makes teh class more entertaining as well as more fun for the all of us. he goes through how to answer the qns before we answer the qns so we know how to answer the qns. yeah. this is teh reason why i love coming to this place
After learning from Mr Ivan, I believe that his teaching ability directly comes from his academic prowess, of which he has proven to be extensively capable and knowledgeable in the content of Social Studies. During his class, he often elaborates on key areas of our notes and knows when to highlight higher priority sentences for our benefit. This shows that he is hard-working and passionate in his subject which in turn helps inspire the rest of the students in his class and better ready us for our exams. Because of his preparedness and experience as a Ministry of Education trained teacher, I am able to gain more understanding of chapters that I often struggle with.
Additionally, I have observed that his conversational skills are increadibly qualified and has led me to regard him highly as a teacher. He is able to discern the mood of the classroom and spotlights the usually quiet students to help bring out their skills. He has a patience that allows students to grow at their own pace and a humourous style of speech that brings joy to learning. He delegates sufficient time to every student and prevents them from feeling left out or disregarded. I have grown exponentially under his tutelage due to the personal comments and feedback he has provided me on my work.
Futhermore, Mr Ivan is very considerate of all his students. He is meticulous in the seating arrangements of every class so that the students can increase in their attentiveness in class. This amount of care and attention he puts into teaching us is greatly appreciated due to the results that they produce. He delivers entertaining lessons that encourages the participantion of all students to speak their own mind and share opinions. Through these mannerisms, the class becomes more interconnected and these lessons become periods of time that I look forward to.
In conclusion, I believe that Mr Ivan is respectable teacher who puts in much effort into his work and equally as much into his students. His qualifications are proof that he has deeply integrated himself into his career, increasing in competency through his journey in education. The structure of my writing was only achieved thanks to his support, which is why I extend my profound gratitude to Mr Ivan for his guidance.

Having attended numerous group tuition classes before, I can confidently say that I have never met a single teacher as capable as Mr Ivan of the SS and History Tuition Classes offered by Illum.e. Whilst most teachers might struggle at managing rambunctious students and ensure proper learning, Mr Ivan is able to confidently and smoothly facilitate learning sessions and convey key points in a fun and engaging manner without depreciating their educational value. He has particularly helped with the Militarist Japan chapter in the History Syllabus, which has been a real head-scratcher for quite some time. Having a reliable and confident teacher take the lead and provide useful information and tips for everyone in class gives me confidence in tackling questions related to Militarist Japan.

When I entered illume for many subjects: Social Studies, Geography and Physics, I was failing at all of the subjects stated and was expecting like the other tuitions as I still have not found any improvement when I joined the other tuition centre. However, with the illume having a conducive environment for substantial learning and the provision of drinks and candy helps students to focus and able to stay focused for a longer time as the lesson is very hard core and will be of alot of use for students who requires more attention from teachers. With good teachers, it must also come with good practise papers. They provide O-level to Pure level questions which is very helpful to students who are very hardworking. Finally, I want Mr Ivan, Mr Lee and Mr Raam to be recognized as one of my GOATED teachers as they are very supportive and easily paraphrase difficult topics for people(like me) to understand. After a year with them, I have gotten from failing to getting 2 grade jumps (which have never happened to me before). All in all, I urge you to join illume!
Really enjoyed the thoughtfully lessons and notes given. The teacher for my SS and History, Mr Ivan, is extremely experienced and provides engaging lessons. Overall it has helped me to see my weak points and how I could do better. Moreover Mr Ivan's overseas exposure to History and SS scenes outside of Singapore allows him to give me deeper insights and knowledge of different perspectives in these subjects.
Joined Mr Ivans SS class in sec 3, it was a life changing experience. He made every lesson entertaining with his charm and charisma and yet still drove the fundamentals of social studies answering techniques into my brain. On top of that, he is a very respectable and knowledgable person with good advice on not only exams but real life skills. His notes are amazing too🙏, lowk saved my ss.
