Been coming here for a year with my wife. Extremely transparent with my teeth; x rays, descriptions of what she’ll be doing (had a few cavities & cleanings). Review of before and after pictures. Extremely friendly staff from hygienists to front desk. Thorough and knowledgable with insurance as well.
Dr. Adachi and his team are caring, thorough, kind, and brilliant. I changed dental insurance so I could continue coming here and recommend them to everyone seeking excellent care, especially for anyone wary of tooth-related medical care, as they are gentle and have excellent bedside manner. Everyone from the longtime admin to the technicians and dentists is communicative, organized, and so helpful with scheduling and reminders. I look forward to every visit, and our whole extended family is grateful to Kakaʻako Smiles.
I have never loved going to the dentist more! They are so welcoming and knowledgeable. Usually going to the dentist is intimidating and a bit shameful but everyone in this office is such a pleasure to work with. I came from a previous dentist who wanted to do way more work than necessary but Dr.Dana was very knowledgeable on what should be done immediately and what we can monitor.
Dr Dana Adachi and everyone there from the administrative staff to the hygienists, assistants, and of course Dr Adachi are second to none. They make a trip to the dentist as pleasant as can be. They have the latest technology and my teeth have never been healthier. If you’re looking to improve your dental care, don’t hesitate to see them.

After about 15 years of not seeing a dentist I was very worried about what going back would be like but the experience has been so wonderful. A cleaning which we originally thought would take a few months in totality got done in 3 weeks thanks to the help of the wonderful ladies at the front desk.
Dr. Dana Adachi and all of the hygienists there were extremely helpful and were so kind, patient and supportive with me. I genuinely don't see myself going to another dentist ever again.
It's very rare I do a survey but I absolutely had to for this dentist's office, I would highly recommend to anyone for any reason you see fit to go to the dentist.

Front desk is efficient. I never have to wait more than 5mins. Doctors promote an environment where i can ask questions and i do not feel intimidated. They are patient with my questions and i appreciate that a lot. Also, i have had sensitivity issues for a long time. I moved nearby earlier this year and decided to start going to Kakaako smiles. they did some fillings to address my sensitivity. I guess i havent even noticed it has gone away because when I went back yesterday for my 6 mo. Cleaning, i braced for the pain that my sensitive teeth always bears from the cold cleaning water, but wow zero pain!! It is almost so weird that i dont feel any pain and sensitivity anymore because i have had it for so long i just know that my body automatically braces for that pain. Overall, i am impressed with the doctors, hygienists, and staff!!

I paid for an expensive bite guard with Dr. Adachi and wore it faithfully every day for about a year. It’s meant to prevent wear and tear on teeth from grinding. But during that time I lost two molars on the bottom, in the back where the jaw hinges.
Clearly, the bite guard did not do its job, but it also made the problem much worse. I won’t bore y’all with the horror story of expensive specialists, a root canal, an abscess, and a crown that kept breaking off while eating, (all for nothing as it ended in extraction anyhow). But I will say I used to wake up with new pain at the back of my jaw after wearing the guard at night. And I could feel the pressure there while clenching my teeth with the guard in.
Though it didn’t appear to be rubbing at the dentist office, while making adjustments on the guard, clearly it was.
I understand businesses having to be careful about what they apologize for and avoiding liability. But at the very very least, they could have refunded me for the bite guard as it did not do its job, and I would never ever wear it again.
Instead I got apologies for the tough luck, and an offer to adjust the bite guard, which somehow falls short of being helpful.

I have been going for 2 years now and Dr. Gerald Adachi is the only person I trust. I always have a seamless experience. Any dental work I have had done is always explained to me in an easy to understand manner.
