Rulin did a great job with my home, it was a total revamp of an old three room flat, and was very responsive and accommodating to rectifying issues as they come up. Also does exactly what we need.
We recently had a scheduled site visit with the contractor. Unfortunately, the experience did not meet our expectations for the following reasons:
1. The contractor arrived late for the scheduled visit.
2. Upon arrival, the contractor’s appearance, specifically his crumpled shirt and pants, did not convey professionalism.
3. Midway through the site visit, the contractor paused the session to address personal matters with his girlfriend due to her being unhappy with him working long hours, went out of the house and down to the carpark causing a delay of approximately 20-30 minutes. This should not even be an issue to begin with. This could have been handled after the site visit was done. This was particularly inconvenient and super unprofessional as we had other site visits scheduled immediately afterward.
4. At the conclusion of the visit, the contractor seemed rushed and even forgot his bag. Which resulted In Another 10-20mins delay.
Given the above, our primary reservation about proceeding with this contractor is a perceived lack of professionalism, which raised concerns about the potential execution of the project.

I am surprised to see this review left by your fake profile considering we had ended things well, I had tried to message you to find the reason but you have blocked my number, so I have to respond truthfully to protect my company's reputation since I do save all my whatsapp conversation with everybody.
Firstly, we have agreed to reschedule the meeting back 30mins from the original appointment at 1230pm to 1pm, the time I arrived. By the way, I have made special arrangement to meet you on a Sunday as you mentioned this was a very rushed enquiry. (10 Sept)
Secondly, to my surprise you were not the owner of the house but rather a "freelance main contractor" looking for individual direct contractor with in-house workers like ourselves to assist with the work, because you do not have any workers working for you. As your full time industry is in the training industry, it may be why my "Sunday appearance" has irked you, but I don't fault you as we focus more on substance not fluffs, not everybody's taste.
On the site, I gave you my professional advice and helped to explain to the homeowners as you did not advise them properly, or rather lack of knowledge, regarding the tv feature wall, even though that was not my scope.
For the quotation, you requested for a fast quotation that night as a favor, and we rushed the quotation that same night (after 12mn) and sent you. Upon receiving, you said you had another "way more competitive price from another contractor", so we shared cost comparison and moved on from there. (11 Sept)
On 29th Sept, you informed me that the "competitive contractor" did not do the job in the end as the price they quoted was "too low" and they "awoled" you. We were surprised to receive your message as it was already strucked from our ongoing quotation, and asked if you needed any help from us, you said "no worries not for now". You even acknowledged that our price is actually lower overall because the other party had lowered their quantity hence the "hidden cost".
However, I do acknowledge and apologise regarding the midway delay of 5mins not 20-30mins, and the bag. It is possible for anyone to have a bad moment.
We hope your client's renovation went well, and still leave our lines open for a private discussion.

I was attended by Rulin for hacking and plastering services. He is very friendly and responded to all my query relatively fast. The work they did was fast, efficient, on-time and with quality. Rulin is always responsive and helpful from the start to the end.
Overall, the price they charged me was quite reasonable and i am satisfied with their work. 😊 Kudos

As i didn't need design for my renovation work, i looked into engaging contractors for the job. it was a pleasant experience communicating with Bryan who coordinated the meetings and also with Rulin in person to talk about the requirements of the work needed. Rulin was experienced and able to provide constructive feedback for the ideas shared. He was friendly and easy to approach to ask questions and suggestions. I would recommend reaching out to Hock Star for future home renovation works.

Wonderful experience talking to the sales rep. Rulin guided me through details of the timeline for my renovation and helped me understand the challenges of renovating my resale apartment. As the unit I bought is already more than 20 years old, we were uncertain of the work we needed to do. Rulin gave us really great advice and had never been pushy in his sales. As he is a direct contractor, the renovation package he offered is definitely more reasonable than many IDs. The rate he quoted me was 15k lower than another ID firm, and his package was more comprehensive i.e. inclusive of tiles selection of a certain range. If you are clear of the design you have in mind, I strongly encourage you to approach him for a quotation.

Made a mistake with my quotation & still dare to ask me to give them a call! You should be automatically provide me with the revised quotation instead!

As per our message, we found a mistake with your quotation and tried to call you to provide the revised quotation but could not reach you, and left a message for you to respond back if you still require it. Furthermore, we found this out after reviewing it internally and informed you as we run an honest business, even though there was no reply from you after you have gotten our initial quotation.
When we gave a courtesy message to close this enquiry since there was no response from your side again, you replied sure since you "had shortlisted an ID", we acknowledged and moved on.
I am sorry you felt automatically entitled to a revised quotation, but we work with clients who responds and communicates with us so we can better understand their needs and help service them.
