This restoration of a Scout 22 long rifle is historic for my family. Dave did up and Beyond an awesome job on restoring this rifle which belonged in my family since the Oklahoma run days.

I called AJI sporting goods to ask about a gun issue and I was refered to High Chaparral gunsmithing and was told he was very good at his job. Not only was I able to set the date and time of my appointment but Dave fixed the issue with my gun while I waited. He did a great job. If you know lots about guns or are a beginner you can trust what he says and the work he does.

Great to work with and really know their stuff. What they are doing with the older models is wonderful, especially the restoration and wood-work! They solved a problem with something I had had issues with for a very long time, and it was corrected in minutes!

Bought sight, he tried installing, faulty sight, felt bad, ordered himself paid for it. Came to pick it up and wanted to pay for installation, refused to take my money for it and said this one is on the house… amazing set of guys. Truly will come back for other projects.
New sight is amazing.

GOLD STANDARD!!! Had an older family piece that was in need of some serious tear down and refurbishing. I can not speak highly enough about Dave. He is truly an artisan, craftsman, and part miracle worker. The rifle is like brand new thanks to him. Communication was top notch, time frames were clear, and very fair price for the work he did and to see some of the other things he has going on at his shop are truly fascinating. Thanks again!!!

I have had the opportunity to use the services of High Chaparral on two occasions. I have found Dave to be very thorough, knowledgeable, fair and trustworthy. He regularly communicates the status of the job and advises of any issues or concerns he has. The most recent project I had for him was relatively simple (for him) so I just waited for him to complete it. At the end, he didn’t even charge me. I left him something anyway but that gives an indication of his demeanor. He is very experienced which becomes very apparent, very quickly. He works out of his home garage but is enhancing his work area and expanding his tool inventory. I wouldn’t hesitate recommending him for any Gunsmithing or refurbishing project.

I was having issues with my gas chamber, and Dave has my back, he’s a very knowledgeable Gunsmith with the proper tools, he fixed my A.R. 15. Now my gun runs perfect. I will be bringing any future issues with my guns to him

Dave is a PHENOMENAL guy! Worked on my Frankenstein Mossberg 88 with mixture of 500 parts. Made the action butter smooth. Also put in a long force cone reamer that super improved the gun! This guy actually teaches you what’s happening to your gun and is humble about it as well. Super easy to talk with and charged a very fair price. Does some super impressive custom work and I was drooling and gasping at some of the other guns he has and is working on! If you are in need of a gun smith and struggled to find one for a long time go talk to Dave!
