Second time back and when the staff remember you and make you feel welcomed it makes it even better. BBQ pork ribs 👌 Beef Brisket ❤️ Waffle Chips 😋 The Hicksville Beer 🍺 perfect. Modern Contemporary fun fit out, Great food, Great service, and the friendly and attentive staff including Pit, Jarrad and Yuni had a very positive impact on the whole dinning experience. Definately put Hicksville on your must go to eateries on the Gold Coast. My main complaint about the service is NO table service so I had to get up twice during my meal to order more food and a beer at the bar. "Honestly that is rediculous" But in general a great place to get your meat fix, watch sport and drink a beer. Family and kid friendly 👍

I got the ribs unfortunately they're were supposed to be 250 gr of ribs and only got 4 measly ribs and my partner got the 259gr brisket, alas 6 thinly sliced pieces no way was it 250 gr more like 150 gr, the ribs tasted like the freezer, where they originally came from. They need to get their portrait control sorted.Because that was a total rip-off.\nIt was like eating road kill

Definitely rate the new smokehouse in Southport 👌. Speedy service, friendly staff, cool atmosphere, awesome chorizo and brisket, ribs were great too… and the waffle chips. Not sure what some of the negative reviews are about. I bet this place will be bustling once the word gets out.

This place is great! Super friendly staff very welcoming and knowledgeable. The meat is amazing always cooked to perfection sides are great. Probably pass in the sausages but that’s just preference they are done well. Been a few time will be back for a few more.

Some interesting reviews here, but everyones experience is different I guess. Good American style barbecue in Australia is expensive. So it was no surprise to see the prices here were also high. I'm quite a bbq snob since I learned how to smoke meats myself and have mastered decent American bbq. So I kept my expectations low. I was blown away. Blown, away! Really good considering all things. I'm usually not a fan of the pulled pork that gets around bbq spots, it often tastes tuna-ish. Hicksville's pulled pork on the other hand was the bomb! Paired with jalapeno salsa, absolutely yum! Best I've had in Australia. The brisket, juicy and tender, paired with the bourbon bbq sauce, works a treat. I've not had great brisket here in Australia, no where can do Brisket justice the way the yanks do. But this was close. The ribs, oh my goodness I can't smoke em that good, so I was very impressed. The Chorizo sausage full of spice, very nice. The creamy slaw. Why do bbq places struggle with this essential side? Hicksville nailed it on the head! I could eat a bucket of it. $54 for the platter, well worth it. As for the service, they did their jobs well and imo its great that once you get your food your left to eat it 👌. I don't want pesky wait staff coming around and bothering me while I'm covered in bbq goodness 🤣. They were warm and friendly though. The only thing they need to improve is their wet weather cover!!! The canvas don't quite keep us dry unfortunately, but the heat from the Jalapeno salsa kept me pleasantly warm haha. I'm so happy this place exists, well done.

Clint, what a review! Coming from someone who knows their way around a smoker, this means a lot to us. We’re thrilled the pulled pork, brisket, ribs, chorizo and especially that creamy slaw delivered! 🔥

We also appreciate the note about the wet weather cover. Definitely something for us to work on, although we’re glad the jalapeño salsa came to the rescue 😂

Very disappointing experience. My advice is to read the menu carefully. The section “BBQ and Sides” are ALL considered sides and you will receive a very small portion. The brisket was good. The corn, waffle fries and polenta chips were fine. The pork ribs (3 ribs for $30) are not smoked. They are dry, tough and unpleasant to eat and covered in cold sauce just before serving. We’re happy to pay a premium price for food as long as the food is good, but unfortunately these ribs are the worst we have ever had. Food is served on disposable wooden plates which are difficult to cut on. The children’s meal is probably the best value with a burger and waffle fries included, but the bun was stale and should have been toasted. Staff weren’t interested in interacting with us after they delivered our food and because you pay upfront you have nothing left to do except leave feeling like that was the worst dinner experience you have had in a long time.

Recently as I had heard of the recently opened Smoke House / cafe we decided to try it. Firstly the whole concept and set up is a bit confusing as the front is a simple cafe front. The Smoke House is hidden at the back of the building in a courtyard accessible via a narrow passage. My mate had the recommended brisket sandwich and I had the pulled pork sandwich both were very good. The soft bun / brioche although is part of the original recipe I wish they would be more innovative and use another type of bread. The waffle chips are yummy 😋. The disturbing part is the loud background music which is not conducive to have a discussion or meeting. When we wanted to have a coffee we had to move to the Cafe at the front of the building. Since it’s the same operator why they couldn’t serve coffee where we had lunch beats me. The operator is the same operator as Fire Baby which is an excellent concept and restaurant / pizzeria but Hicks Cafe / Smoke House is a bit disappointing.

Wouldn't really call it a smokehouse when the meat is clearly order in vacuum sealed and just reheated , you could see the meat in bags sitting in a plastic tub in the "smokehouse" . Menu on the QR code is different to the printed menu and drinking beer from plastic cups isn't great . Staff were fantastic though.
