Extremely disappointing experience with Dr. Janani Kannan.
I booked a standard consultation for a persistent cough I had been dealing with for 2–3 months. My appointment was at 12 PM, but I wasn't called in until around 12:30 despite seeing the GP walking around and casually chatting with staff.
During the consultation, very few follow-up questions were asked. Blood tests were arranged because I specifically requested them, along with referrals for a chest X-ray, lung function test and respiratory specialist. I left feeling that very little had actually been done to address my symptoms.
What frustrated me even more was that part of my appointment was spent waiting while the GP dealt with an unrelated IT/password issue and phone call. I had booked a standard consultation, yet I was then charged for a long consultation because of the time spent in the room. I find that completely unreasonable when some of that time had nothing to do with my medical care.
My symptoms continued to worsen while I waited nearly two months for the specialist appointment. I eventually saw another GP who prescribed antibiotics, and both that GP and the respiratory specialist later expressed surprise that antibiotics hadn't been prescribed earlier.
I understand that doctors can have different approaches to treatment, but my issue is with the overall experience: minimal engagement with my symptoms, unrelated interruptions during my appointment, and then being charged extra for the additional time.
Very disappointing experience and, in my opinion, not an acceptable standard of patient care.
