I did the 1 day introduction to tiling course and it was a brilliant day that gives you a good introduction to tiling and some common related tasks (plasterboard filling/repairs, putting up shelving, plasterboard fixings, cutting out socket boxes, etc.). Ben is a brilliant instructor - he explains things very clearly and is patient and kind in answering everyone's questions. Lovely atmosphere to learn in. Huge thanks also to Tash, who kept me in the loop about the course details and ensured we had everything we needed on the day. Thank you!

I recently completed the 2 day intro to DIY course which was a fantastic introduction to the world of DIY, for a novice like me. Ben and Tash were fantastic hosts and patient with the many questions I had. The course gave me the confidence to get on with some work in my own house, which I would have been clueless about before. I'd recommend this to anyone!
I took the opportunity to coincide the course with a few days stay in Lincoln and Tash very kindly picked me up from the local train station, due to limited bus services in the area. Thank you again, I hope to be back to learn more at some point!

Had a great day on the tiling course with Ben. He and Tash are excellent hosts and made us feel very welcome. Ben is a great teacher and we got through a lot in one day and I feel confident to do some tiling at home now which was the reason I did the course to start with. Definitely recommend!

Ben is an excellent teacher! As a complete beginner with tools, I really appreciated his patience and clear instructions. He didn't mind demonstrating techniques multiple times, and he even shared some great wood-turning tricks. I walked away feeling confident enough to tackle DIY tasks at home. I’d highly recommend Ben’s classes to anyone and will definitely be back more of his classes.

Ben is very talented and his methods are easy to understand. The 4 day course was well structured leaving us all confident we could complete our last project. Ben and his family were very accommodating to everyone and are such nice people.

Great course, aimed at the right level and learnt an awful lot of really useful information. Practical aspects also great, enjoyed every minute to the point that I never checked the time at any point during the whole of the two day basic DIY course, so that says something!

I recently completed the three-day Door-Hanging & Woodworking Course with Have A Go, and I couldn’t be more delighted with the experience. From the very first moment you arrive, the warm welcome makes you feel right at home — calm, friendly, and supportive. Ben the instructor patiently guides you through everything, from tool selection and safe use, to hands-on joinery, measuring, cutting, and fitting a door — even helping you learn how to deal with ill-fitting doors or tricky hinge/lock installation. The hands-on practice was exactly what I needed: by the end of day one I was already confidently chiseling hinges and drilling mortice locks, and by the close of the course I’d hung a door completely from scratch.
What’s more, the course felt like an investment not only in new skills, but in confidence. The materials were provided, the explanations were clear, and the practical tips were invaluable. If you’ve ever wanted to learn woodworking properly — from the ground up — this course is absolutely worth it. I can’t recommend it highly enough.

Fantastic beginners DIY course today at the fabulous Have a Go Training Academy. The trainer was knowledgeable, friendly, and made everything easy to understand. The course was really hands-on, and I left feeling confident to tackle projects at home. Highly recommend to anyone wanting to pick up new skills in a fun and supportive environment!
Challenging but really fun day - covered everything I wanted to with plenty of practical time to really get to grips with things. Can’t wait to buy myself a drill now! Ben was superb at explaining everything, ensuring we understood & answering our many questions too. Tash kept us hydrated & lush snacks too. Very worthwhile day.
I took two courses at Have a Go DIY and both were excellent. Both courses (basic diy and woodwork) were 2 days each and the amount of information was incredible. I really learnt a lot during both from Ben, who was extremely patient, friendly and a mind of knowledge. He was happy to answer any questions we had, and to go at a pace that was suitable to all. Along with his wife Tash, it was a friendly and welcoming place and Im hoping to do more courses here throughout the year 👍
Natasha and Ben offered a fantastic course tailored to my requests . Ben was highly informative, patient with repeat questioning on how to do, and helped build my confidence to a point I can complete wood tasks on my own. Ben adapted flexibly to all my curiosity about home renovations and importantly made the 2 days fun . I was exhausted but truly satisfied with what I’d gained over the 2 days. I would highly recommend and I’d definitely do more
