Our overall experience with Grand Endeavor Homes had both strong highlights and areas that could be improved.
The initial planning and design phase was a positive experience. Tyler (sales) and Brad (design architect) did a great job understanding our vision and translating it into a design that aligned with our goals and budget. We appreciated that there was no pressure to add upgrades beyond what we wanted.
During the design selections process, we were referred to Floor King for countertops, flooring, backsplash, faucets, doors, and various hardware. We initially got sent to the wrong address and then the Floor King rep (Kristen) showed up late for our first appointment. Also, her visual aids were not the best. Instead of showing us examples on her cell phone and small iPad, it would have been helpful if she had used a larger monitor or some sort of computer-aided design or AI to show us how a particular color or pattern would look in our home.
Lighting and fixtures were handled through Ferguson. After installation, we noticed a few functional inconsistencies, including wall switches that do not appear to control anything and one that does not operate a ceiling fan as intended.
Additionally, the toilet seats that were initially installed were not the ones selected, and while they were eventually replaced, the seats provided do not match well and feel lower quality.
The financing process was the most challenging part of the experience. Tyler referred us to Laurie Lampert with First American Mortgage and their lending partner United Wholesale Mortgage (UWM). During construction, we began receiving delinquency notices from UWM despite being told no payments were due at that stage. Over several months, this issue escalated to incorrect credit reporting, which impacted our credit scores significantly. Although the issue was ultimately resolved and our credit restored, the process took considerable time and required repeated follow-ups. Many with no responses from Laurie, or calls from her while she was driving. This experience raised concerns about the coordination between financial partners and why Tyler referred us to these specific institutions in the first place.
The construction phase itself went smoothly. The superintendent (Rodney Roybal) and project leadership team communicated regularly and addressed our questions and concerns as they came up. The finished home reflects strong quality in major areas such as structural integrity, layout, and overall design.
There are some smaller details that could benefit from closer attention, such as cabinet hardware alignment and ensuring all switches and fixtures function as expected. Addressing these types of items would further improve the overall experience.
In the end, we are happy with the home and glad to be settled.
