I can’t thank the staff at Gavin Scott anymore for helping me with my big day! I’m quite a larger gentleman so trying to get suits to fit is a real pain!
From the start and through out the whole experience they made me feel at ease and even adjusted a waistcoat making it longer for me so I felt more comfortable on the day.
I would not go anywhere else for a suit in the future as my experience here was fantastic!

Last week I phoned ahead to let the shop know that a party of 7 of us would be coming in to look for suits for my son’s wedding. From the outset, the manner on the phone was poor. I was told bluntly to “maybe send two at a time on different days” because they didn’t want too many customers. When I explained this wasn’t possible, should I go elsewhere? I was told no I could “chance it then.” Not exactly welcoming.
Unfortunately, today’s visit was even worse.
We went in seeking help and could not have felt more unwelcome if we’d walked in carrying open bags of manure. Despite claims of being “understaffed,” neither staff member moved from their spot during the entire 13 minutes we were in the shop.
The female staff member sat behind her desk chewing gum, shouting answers across the shop and vaguely pointing in random directions, even though the response was always the same — one option only. No effort was made to assist us properly or engage in any meaningful way. The younger male staff member wasn’t much better, although to be fair, he did smile a couple of times - which was more than his colleague managed.
This was, without question, the most unpleasant experience we’ve had during the whole wedding process.
Unwelcoming. Unfriendly. Unprofessional.
Just been in with a party of 7 for suits and the lady "assisting " us didn't seem to understand that a wedding party is a big deal. She has zero customer care skills , found her to be very rude and abrupt. We all walked out and are now heading to a place hopefully with some decent staff. Would not recommend this place, based on her attitude to help, or shoukd I say not help and make everyone feel a bit uncomfortable. What a shame
Can’t praise Gavin and his staff highly enough we bought our Maid of honour and bridesmaid dress plus hired my suit and my best man’s suit for our wedding at Gretna Green .unfortunately on the night before our wedding we lost our little dog Diesel so cancelled our wedding . We took our suits back only to our surprise at been told when we reschedule we could use the suits at no extra cost which was a very kind gesture our wedding at Lumley Castle went without a hitch would not hesitate to use Gavin and his staff again plus the lady that helped me with our suits was fantastic thanks again all involved .

Picking out our wedding suits was honestly the easiest and most fun part of planning, all thanks to the awesome team at Gavin Scott Menswear. As soon as we stepped into their Washington showroom, we felt completely at ease.
The staff really knew their stuff and gave us personal attention. They measured us up and offered great advice on picking the right navy shade to go with the bridesmaids' dresses and suggested different waistcoat styles for everyone. Their expertise made sure everything fit perfectly, plus they offered free alterations!
Would highly recommend this place for suit hire. They couldn’t be more helpful. Knew youre size just by looking at you! A large range of suits to try on. They do have XXL to small sizes to fill all. Lots of tie colours too. They brought out about 5 different shades of ties
to match the mother of the brides top. They went above and beyond my expectations. I highly recommend this menswear hire
