After a wonderful cocktail, we started with a hot baguette and butter. Each subsequent item was just superb. The French onion soup was the best I have ever tasted, perfectly balanced. I followed that with the barramundi, pan seared then placed in a delicious sauce with capers. The plates come complete with a vegetable saute and small roasted potatoes. Do not miss the chocolate mousse which was so light, it should have floated above the table. Chef Freddie and server, Marcos, were generous with their time, explanations and even a few tasty bits on the house. They made you feel as if you were guests in their home. I can't wait to go back!

My husband and I were in the area for our anniversary and decided to try Freddie's Kitchen at the Cole. We made a quick reservation online because we weren't sure if they were going to be busy. We were greeted by Marco, he was very welcoming and shared a lot of information with us. We ordered the basket of baguette, French Onion Soup, Chef Special Cod and the Braised Short Rib Rigatoni Bolognaise. Everything was good and seasoned well. Chef Frederick stopped at our table multiple times.

This hidden gem is amazing. From the moment you enter from when you leave. The service is Top Notch!! The Food is DEEEEELOCIOUS!! I had to leave a review cause its not often a spot in Palm Springs really WOW's me. It felt like you were at someone's house eating. The Chef actually comes to your table and introduces himself. The hospitality to the meal was a 100!!

The price and overall value were a refreshing contrast to the inflated costs often associated with fine dining. The menu is thoughtfully curated, showcasing French cuisine with creative and modern twists that make each dish feel distinctive. The beef tartare is a must-order for anyone who enjoys raw beef. Its flavor and texture are unlike any tartare I’ve had before. The beef is incredibly silky and smooth—almost pâté-like in consistency—while still retaining its freshness. Paired with their baguette, it creates a well-balanced and memorable bite. The elk was an ambitious choice, but it was executed exceptionally well. In fact, the chef mentioned that it is one of the dishes he is most proud of, and it is easy to see why. The dish paired elk cooked to a perfect level with a reduction sauce that didn’t mask the taste of the meat. While the main courses were excellent, the desserts and side dishes did not quite reach the same standard. If those elements were elevated to match the quality and creativity of the restaurant’s standout dishes, I could easily see this restaurant being worthy of a Michelin star.

I’ll begin on a positive note: the atmosphere was charming, and our server, Dustin, was friendly and attentive throughout the meal. However, the overall experience was diminished by the owner/chef, Freddy. His frequent and prolonged presence at our table felt intrusive rather than engaging. While interaction from the chef can be a nice touch, it would be more appropriate at the conclusion of the meal rather than standing beside guests during it. The approach came across as overwhelming and detracted from our dining experience. From a culinary standpoint, the escargot was underwhelming and fairly basic. The mushroom strudel tasted as though it had been pre-made and simply reheated. The cocktails were average and did not meet expectations for what might be considered craft offerings. Overall, while there were a few positive elements, the experience did not meet our expectations.

We’re sorry Freddy’s presence at the table didn’t feel right for you. His intention is to check in and make sure guests are enjoying their meal and being well taken care of, though it’s clear that didn’t come across as intended. That’s important for us to take in.

We do want to clarify one point directly: nothing in our kitchen is pre-made or reheated. The mushroom strudel, like everything we serve, is prepared fresh. If it came across otherwise, that’s on us to execute better.

As for cocktails, we keep our bar simple and aim to offer them at a fair, approachable price point compared to many spots in the area. We understand that may not align with expectations for a more craft-forward program, and we appreciate the perspective.

The food is special. Simple and perfectly prepared. The onion soup is the best I have ever had. The Miso Black Cod was amazing as well. Even the accompanying vegetables were outstanding. The atmosphere is very nice and the restaurant is nicely decorated. The chef is a joy to talk to and the staff is equally friendly and knowledgeable. Great meal. Highly recommend.

Outstanding food. The location is small, and can be noisy. But this casual dining spot is not to be missed. The service is very friendly, and unpretentious. Our server -- Marco -- was excellent. And the chef -- Freddie -- came to every table to check on how we were enjoying our meal. He was very warm, and welcoming, and does an amazing job in the kitchen. I definitely would come here again.

If you are visitng the Palm Springs area, you have to check this place out! My boyfriend and I were in town for vacation and were recommended by our air bnb host to dine here one night. Boy was it worth it! Freddie's has a beautiful little restaurant with great ambiance. The service was incredible, shout out to Marco for the service and food recommendations! The owner and chef, Freddie, came into the dining room serveral times throughout the night to talk to guests and ask how everything was tasing and how the evneing was going. We loved that he did that! Such a nice personal touch. Everything we ate was delicious, authentic to French cuisine, and this was by far the best meal of our trip! The cocktails were also fabulous, and any of the drinks with lemon in them are made from fresh grown lemons at the chef's house! If you're a dessert person, this place also has the best creme brulee I've ever had! The space is best suited for groups of 4, but there was a large group of 6 people there at the same time as us, so they can definately accomodate more. 10/10 recommend!
