What a lovely old cinema! Right in the centre of Folkestone, with car parking behind (free after 6pm). 2 screens, we were in the balcony of screen 1, with double seats on the back row - far more romantic than the recliners in multiplexes. Staff were friendly and helpful, film and sound were good, and at a bargain price compared to the main chains. Well worth a visit 👍
A really great experience if the film Is right, beautiful old style cinema, and prices are ok. Problem is they try to compete with cineworld when they should be creating a good alternative cinema. They should give up on all the modern slop releases and concentrate on film. The most people i ever saw here were here for Kurosawa. No one wants to see new marvel in art deco cinemas.
I was very pleased with my visit to the Silver Screen cinema in Folkestone with a friend to see the Super Mario Galaxy Movie.
Booking online was simple and found the tickets to be great value for money. On arrival to the cinema I found the staff friendly and helpful. The cinema and toilets were clean. I also found the quality of the screening great with a clear picture and great acoustics.
I'm not from the local area - I actually travelled from London to meet up with a friend. I enjoyed the community feel to this independent cinema and offered a change of pace to my home town! Overall I recommend this cinema and I hope to return in the future!
Extremely rude stuff wouldn’t recommend at all

Hello Ethan, thanks for your comment.
We're not at all rude, but we will politely speak to anyone who behaves inconsiderately or disrespectfully while at our cinema. For example, if an adult took some children's booster seats and placed them in a fire escape route to use as foot-rests, it would be not only disrespectful but also a fire safety risk, so we would politely ask them to stop.
If someone from the same group then started vaping inside the screen during the film, it would be very inconsiderate towards the other customers and also a breach of our terms & conditions (available on our website).
At this point our team would be forced to ask them to leave, as we had already given them fair warning about their behaviour. However, we would still be polite towards the group when doing so, and would let them know they were still welcome to return to our cinema in future - provided they follow our house rules.
We hope that clarifies our position on people being rude, inconsiderate, and disrespectful. Sorry to hear you've decided not to return.

Great to go to an independent cinema for a change which was showing a documentary about the Seven Channels swims which are the pinnacle of marathon swimming. Certainly wouldn't have got it at the Vue I reckon ! The kiosk staff were lovely and helpful. The screen (screen 2) seemed to be a converted Council Chamber which was fine. Only dropped a star because the screen looked like one of those drop down ones. But the projection and sound were absolutely fine.
Little Gem of a bygone era of Cinema
Love this cinema - have been going for decades. So many memories! Staff very helpful. Particularly like the small cinema within. Feels very intimate and cosy without loosing the big screen effect. Knocks spots off multiplexes and their extortionate prices. ÂŁ6 and easy parking at night right outside the venue.
We watched “Giant” - a free preview via “Escapes”. Our first visit to the Silver Screen in Folkestone and we were very impressed - will be back! A wonderful old school cinema setting, very comfortable, clean and welcoming staff. Good little bar & snacks too with fair prices. Fab. Thank you!
