Ken is hands-down the best ice fishing guide we could have asked for!
From start to finish, Ken was incredible. He had us on the fish, knew exactly where to go, and made the entire experience feel effortless. What truly sets him apart, though, is his patience and kindness, especially with our kids. He was so encouraging, calm, and genuinely sweet — never rushed, never frustrated — just fully invested in making sure everyone had an amazing time.
He explained everything in a way that made it fun and easy to understand, kept the kids engaged, and celebrated every catch right along with us. You can tell he truly loves what he does and cares deeply about the experience he gives his clients.
We had the best day and are already looking forward to booking with Ken again. If you’re considering an ice fishing trip, do yourself a favor and book with him — you won’t regret it!
first time ice fishing, and it was a great experience. The guides were extremely knowledgeable and took the time to teach us the mechanics of ice fishing, making everything easy to understand and enjoyable. We went out on a good day and we caught our limit within the first hour. Weather was good. Everything was well organized, fun, and stress-free. I couldn’t have asked for a better first ice fishing experience and would highly recommend this trip to anyone, especially first-timers.
Ken and Judson were a blast. Put us right on the fish, kept up great conversation, and was completely accommodating the entire time. Me and my wife had never ice fished before and they were both great guides and were very patient teaching us. Couldn’t have had a better time, thank you guys!
We had a great time and our captain was very nice and accommodating. Unfortunately we fished during August in lake dillon and only got 4 fish in 4 hours. Completely understandable cant control what fish are eating! The only thing I wish more ppl mentioned is that this is a trolling only charter, Fishing for very small salmon. Cool we can deal with that. But what i did not know was this is for young children and amature fisherman. We sit and wait for the pole to get a hit then we are able to reel it about 6 feet. The captain grabs the pole and has to unhook a snap on weight. Then u can continue to reel it in about 2 more feet until the captain will grab the line pull the fish out of the water take it off the hook and hand you a fish to take a picture with. I mean I've been fishing 30 years I think I can handle catching a fish. So for that reason I definitely only recommend this to small children under 10 as it may be enjoyable for them. As for me I just enjoyed the 4 hours cruising the same 50 feet of water back and forth and let my kids catch the other 3 fish we got for the day. No hate on the charter at all just not what we were expecting. But the views were beautiful and our captain was very nice.
Edit: you must have the wrong customer sir. We fished lake dillon for 4 hours on our fishing charter. And we also asked of we could cast lines we were told NO!
So anyone reading this review just know this was a full 4 hour charter on lake dillon that started at 830am to 1230pm and did not catch anything. Also were not allowed to fish off thr boats. Lastly my kids were NOT free we paid $525 for 4 hours and cut it short since it was pointless to keep going in circles

Thank you for your review, we are glad you had a good time and your guide was nice! Your feedback is very much appreciated but I want to clarify a few things for anyone that reads this review. First, we do not troll in only a 50 foot area. Our boats are 22 foot long so I guess that makes it physically impossible. The bay we fished on this trip is called Giberson Bay and is roughly 200 acres. Second, our charters are not trolling only. We verticle jig, cast and retrieve, and also offer flyfishing from our boats. Sometimes we troll because it’s what we need to do in order to catch fish.
Third, this was not a 4 hour trip. It was a three hour “green circle” trip where kids 6 and under fish free, And these “green circle” trips are designed to be simple, family friendly, and focused around the kids reeling in fish. This trip was a 3 hour afternoon trip that started at 1:30 and ended at 4:30.
Third, when we run snap weights, the weight is placed 15 to 30 feet I front of the lure and then another 60 to 100 feet of line is let out so our customers reel in fish much longer than just 2 feet.
We offer 4 and 6 our trips on Dillon and 6 hour trips on Green Mountian which are designed to accommodate the more avid fisherman. It sounds like there was a misunderstanding about our trip offerings and we apologize for anything we might have done that communicated otherwise.

Booked a fishing boat with Alpine Fishing Adventures for our family trip, which included three kids and seven adults. Our tour guide, Alec, was extremely helpful, patient, and knowledgeable about Dillion Lake. Alec went above and beyond to make sure everyone, especially the kids, had a fantastic time. Each child caught multiple fish, including rainbow and brown trout. For those not fishing, the four-hour boat ride around Dillion was beautiful and enjoyable on its own. Overall, it was a wonderful and memorable experience for the entire family.
Friendly, knowledgeable guide. Caught fish!
I booked a solo 3-hour trip, so it was just the guide, John, and me. He asked what I was looking to catch, and I said I just wanted some action. We went out and caught my limit of small Cokanee salmon, so I did get my action. All were caught trolling. We did opt to go in as some potential lightning was approaching. After that passed, we went out and caught the remainder of the fish. Just the right amount of chit chat. John was knowledgeable and friendly. If you are looking for a nice relaxed and productive fishing outing, I highly recommend.
Family had a wonderful time. Alec was great with us and the family. Answered all our questions. We were able to get up to 20 fish in 3 hours.

Thank you so much for this review. We are glad you caught a bunch of fish and enjoyed Alec as your guide!
I wanted the first fishing experience with my children 13/9/7 to be memorable. It is stressful when you’re out numbered. Matt took us to a great spot and got it all set up.
It wasn't long and started pulling in trout and salmon.
Matt was able to get my kids set up, talking them through what they needed to do.
All smiles from my kids.

What a great adventure! Booking and communication leading up to the boat fishing trip was easy and prompt. Directions were spot on for an out of Towner and our guide Tomàs was welcoming, informative and fun! The scenery is stunning and it was a great day on the water catching rainbows and salmon.

Thank you very much for this review. Lake Dillon certainly is stunning!
We are not fishing people - in fact, my kids had never fished before in their life. Before our summer trip to Summit County, they decided they wanted to try fishing, so based on the many positive Google reviews I signed us up for the 6-hour Green Mountain Reservoir guided fishing tour with Randy.
Despite my hesitation that six hours might be too long or too difficult for fishing newbies aged 7-13, this hands-down was a highlight of everyone's trip. Even before we returned to shore, all of the kids were gushing, "we should do this again next year!".
Randy was very knowledgable and had us catching fish in no time. He taught the kids how to do basic fishing tasks, and let them reel in every fish. Even though his expertise led to most of their catches (like using different types of lines and sonar), they all walked off the boat feeling accomplished and happy.
The kids caught around 30 fish during our adventure, including kokanee salmon and lake trout. They were excited to take many of them home, and Randy kindly fileted them for us at the end of the day. Most importantly, we got some great photos and stories from the trip that we'll be talking about for years.
Green Mountain Reservoir was a beautiful setting, and I really enjoyed taking in the views between our many catches. We were one of the only boats on the water too so it felt peaceful and private. It was absolutely worth the drive and earlier morning start to fish in this location.
Thanks again to Randy and the Alpine Fishing team for giving us such a memorable experience - looking forward to fishing with you again on a future trip to Summit County.
